There seems to be no mobile phone coverage at the County Lodge Carnforth. When I arrived at 8.30pm 25/5 the door was locked shut, the place was in darkness and a note attached to the door said to phone a mobile number to gain code keys and access BUT their number failed to ring. Tried multiple times, including 100m away in 3 directions. A landline number was given on the accommodation door, this also failed to ring. The property has not been maintained or looked after, it seemed as though the place had been deserted for months. Car park overgrown and not maintained. I had to find alternative accommodation for the night. The following daytime the front door was still shut and locked in office hours, but I managed to get thro on their mobile number by bringing from a quite different location in town. So I was able to stay the 26/5 night . Before I left the next day I tried phoning again, but evidently no coverage. I want a refund for the 25/5 night.

The room itself is large but dated, and only 2 of the 5 lights worked. The lights beed attention from an electrician as one was hanging off the wall and is dangerous. The annex is run down, boarded up windows, blocked drains, overflows running, windows that do not fit etc. Go elsewhere is my advice. Best to find somewhere else.

Was pleasantly impressed with the room . Comfortable and twin beds were a second bedroom which was very nice giving us each our own space. Staff were friendly and price was good as well!

I was left on my own, worked out great, planned all my excursions to the lake district, ate when i wanted, slept in the day, if needed. Bike was safe in car park. En suite room. No complaints 5* cleaner was friendly, too!

It served the purpose for the night however it was a very uncomfortable stay there was a large Moth and Spider in the room to greet us. Quite dusty room and bed. And the overall area and building felt unsafe. Will not recommend this place or return for a stay. Only decent part of our stay was the kind lady Emily who remotely checked us in.
