Villa Pompea with pool is a residence created from the careful restoration of an ancient rural masseria (farmhouse) dating back to the early 17th century, brought back to its former glory while preserving its original spirit.
The property is located in the historic valley of Ottaviano, between Matino and Casarano, which gives its name to the entire district just 5 minutes from the beaches of Gallipoli. The villa is away from the chaos but close to all services; the historic center of Casarano, with its artistic value and decorations in the local carparo stone—also featured throughout Villa Pompea—is just a 5-minute drive away.
A long palm-lined avenue leads to the front of the impressive noble villa, surrounded by rich vegetation, including 11 hectares of Mediterranean scrubland with centuries-old olive trees and maritime pines. Looking up, one notices a charming bell tower housing a bell forged by the Marinelli Pontifical Bell Foundry, the oldest in Italy and the world. A distinctive feature is the presence of a fully restored votive chapel, which in the 1940s served as a place of worship and prayer for both the noble owners and the farmworkers.
The villa contains three comfortable and independent apartments: one on the ground floor, one on the first floor, and one in a separate annex. This listing refers to the third apartment, located in the annex.
The annex is situated near the pool and consists of a small living room with a sofa bed, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, a double bedroom, and a shaded outdoor area with a barbecue.
Comforts include a smart TV, air conditioning, kitchen, oven, pod coffee machine, washing machine, dishwasher, and mosquito screens.
In this setting, Villa Pompea invites its guests to relax by the pool, enjoy dinner on the spacious terraces or open areas, or sip an aperitif at sunset. A synthetic grass tennis court with lighting—also usable as a five-a-side football pitch—is shared among all guests.
A basket of fresh fruit from the estate and a sample of our homemade olive oil are offered to guests. Fresh vegetables from the garden and eggs are also available upon request as optional services.
Recommended for families and groups of friends. Pets are not allowed. Parking is available within the property.
Bed linen and towels are provided (one change included, extra changes available for a fee). Air conditioning and Wi-Fi are included.
Pool information: minimum depth is 1 meter, maximum depth is 1.4 meters. The pool can be accessed via both a stair-step ladder and a vertical ladder on the opposite side, as shown in the photos. The pool is about 6 meters wide and 10 meters long, and there are no restrictions on usage hours.
Outdoor area: a barbecue is available for guests.
The property also offers a self-service breakfast with packaged products for a small additional fee.
