Magic, charming hideaway

Long time ago we found this feeling good place - I call it ‚a diva‘ - hidden in a beautiful property. The atmosphere is unique. The trees, the space, the view, the aesthetic pool, the peaceful days, the daily easy going kiss your heart. Couldn‘t be better. The family restaurants are cooking the best Italian cuisine you can dream from. Your host is wonderful. Plus his two softly dogs too. I truly recommend SantaMaria. But be sure - it is hard to say goodbye after a while.

Santa Maria cottage October 2009

We greatly enjoyed our week's stay at this idyllic rural location. The listing description is accurate and the cottage was just right for ourselves and our adult daughter and her dog. The property seems in perfect condition and is well equipped with all the necessities for cooking, eating, hygiene, etc. The thoughtfulness and efficiency of the owners is outstanding. On our arrival there was delicious home-made apple jelly and crisply fruity and aromatic dry Orvieto wine waiting for us in the fridge as well as some basic provisions to tide us over until the shops opened. The presence of the owners' friendly dogs and cats was another plus for us animal lovers. The area is fascinating, particularly Orvieto and the Etruscan remains, but we were only able to scratch at the surface of its riches during our short stay.

Herrlicher Urlaub

Traumhaft ruhig und entspannt

Wir haben mit zwei Kindern (11 & 13J) drei Wochen absolute Ruhe und Erholung erlebt. Das Landgut ist toll entworfen und bietet auf sehr hohem Niveau alles, was für einen schönen Urlaub zu wünschen ist. Schöne Räume, perfekte Küche und sehr gute Betten. Hin und wieder haben wir kleine Ausflüge nach Orvieto, in die kleineren Dörfer oder an den See gemacht, wofür ein Auto notwendig ist.

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt und die UNGLAUBLICHE Ruhe genossen. Das Cottage hat alles an Ausstattung was man benötigt; das schließt die Küche selbstverständlich ein. Dieses Mal Umbrien statt der Toskana - und es hat sich gelohnt!!

Ein tolles Haus in großartiger Lage! Man braucht jedoch vor Ort ein Auto. Wir haben die Ruhe genossen, die Weite des gesamten Anwesens und vor allem die täglichen Besuche der Tiere, die das Anwesen mit uns geteilt haben. Pfauen, Katzen und die beiden Hunde des Gastgebers sind immer mal vorbeigekommen, um sich eine Streicheleinheit abzuholen - einfach nett. Das Haus ist im Vergleich zu den vielen Ferienhäusern, die wir bislang in Italien gemietet haben, hervorragend ausgestattet. Kurzum: Haus, Ausstattung, Lage, Gastgeber, Haustiere - alles top! Wir kommen wieder!

Wieder tolle Erholung in einem kleinen Paradies

Wir haben uns nach einer tollen Erfahrung im letzen Jahr wieder für einen Aufenthalt im Castel Giorgio entschlossen und es wieder mindestens genauso genossen. Die Atmosphäre dort ist einfach unvergleichlich, was sicher an der gewissen Abgeschiedenheit, den exotischen Tieren, dem unglaublichen Pool und der durchweg geschmackvollen Einrichtung aller Mietobjekte liegt, aber all dies beschreibt nicht annähernd die Magie, die diesem Ort innewohnt. Unbedingt selbst erleben! Wir kommen sicher wieder.

We had a lovely stay at Santa Maria. - The cottage was super peaceful with a beautiful view onto cypress trees - Very comfortable - not too hot and not too cold - Great swimming pool - The Internet was great - Only a short drive to Lake Bolsena or Orvieto - Lovely gardens with beautiful peacocks - The dogs were very cute (and polite) and the little grey cat, Grigio, was our favourite morning visitor Highly recommend it!

Il gioiello nascosto tra gli alberi

Siamo stati d'incanto in questo cottage meraviglioso dal 14/8 al 24/8. Il fatto che sia indipendente dalla struttura principale, lo pone in una condizione di assoluta tranquillità e di pace come essere in una casa isolata da tutto e tutti. gli unici rumori che si sentivano erano il vento tra gli alberi, il frinire delle cicale quando calava il vento, il calpestio dell'erba secca (per la siccità prolungata) da parte dei pavoni della tenuta che ogni giorno venivano a farsi un giro davanti a casa, le fusa del gatto grigio che ogni giorno veniva a trovarci in cerca di coccole (e di cibo). I dintorni sono pieni di storia e di belle cose da vedere, ma era difficile staccarsi dalle sdraio sotto il patio davanti a casa nostra. Viviamo a Milano e i nostri occhi volevano godere di una vista priva di abitazioni e di cemento. La casa è ben attrezzata, spaziosa e nonostante il gran caldo di quei giorni non necessita di aria condizionata in quanto sempre fresca. Abbiamo apprezzato la piscina, il parco disseminato di opere d'arte. Insomma, un vero gioiello nascosto tra gli alberi. Un unica osservazione: c'era la televisione satellitare, ma il telecomando non è dotato del sistema TDVB-2, non prendeva canali italiani, ma ci hanno fatto notare che la struttura è frequentata da turisti stranieri in prevalenza. Non abbiamo conosciuto il proprietario al quale rivolgiamo i nostri auguri per una buona guarigione, ma gli rinnoviamo i complimenti per la magnifica tenuta. Marcello e Daniela

Geschichtsträchtiges Anwesen mit Top-Erholungsfaktor

Die ehemalige Klosteranlage liegt etwa 5 Autominuten von einem kleinen Ort inmitten hügeliger und agrarisch geprägter Landschaft. Das traumhafte Anwesen lädt mit seinen liebevoll gestalteten Gärten und Kunstwerken zum Umherschweifen und träumen ein. Das rustikale Cottage ist vollständig und geschmackvoll ausgestattet und ließ uns nichts vermissen. Allerdings waren die Räume dunkler als auf den Bildern dargestellt, was uns aber angesichts der vielen Möglichkeiten im Freien nichts ausgemacht hat. Rainer Kuckuck ist ein wunderbarer Gastgeber, der uns schnell das Gefühl gab, bei Freunden zu Gast zu sein. Nur ungern sind wir am Ende unserer 2 Wochen zurück nach Germanien gefahren.

Himmlische Ruhe

Wunderschöne Anlage mit bestem Erholungsfaktor. Den ganzen Tag kaum ein Auto oder anderer Lärm zu hören. Stattdessen das Rufen der Pfauenfamilie, die einen auch ab und zu besuchen kommt. Der Pool herrlich zum Schwimmen, mit riesigem Feigenbaum der seinen Duft verbreitet. Zum schönen Bolsenasee mit dem Auto ca. 25min., Bolsena ist außerdem ein absolut sehenswertes Städtchen mit urigen Gässchen. Auch Orvieta ist interessant mit seiner Rolltreppe in die Altstadt und dem großen Dom.

A perfect place

All is perfect for a quiet break. The place is really confortable and well equiped. The silence is impressive and in the cottage the privacy is total. The swimming pool between the hills offers a regenereting experience. We enjoyed our stay for two weeks in total relax.

Wunderschönes Grundstück und Unterkunft

Eine ganz schöne Unterkunft (wir waren im Cottage) auf einem wunderschönen, riesigen Grundstück. Wir haben hier zu dritt, mit kleinen Kind, eine Woche im Herbst verbracht. Die Cottage ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet, alles vorhanden was man braucht. Wir wurden sehr nett empfangen und auf dem Tisch waren Baguette, Butter und hausgemachte Marmelade fürs erste Frühstück. Außerdem eine Flasche Wein und frische Blumen und Obst. Das Grundstück ist ein Traum. Sehr weitläufig und man kann sich gut zurück ziehen. Wir waren zwar am Ende der Saison die einzigen Gäste, aber auch wenn es voller ist, kann man gut für sich sein. Leider war die Poolsaison schon vorbei und dieser bereits abgedeckt, aber auch der Pool ist mit Sicherheit ein Highlight im Sommer. Alles in allem ist ein Urlaun hier sehr zu empfehlen!

Das muss das Glück sein

Seit vielen Jahren dürfen wir unser italienisches Glück leben und erleben auf ‚SantaMaria‘ - der Name so schön wie ein gutes Stück Konfekt. Nicht leicht oder vielleicht ‚zu leicht‘ das Ganze zu beschreiben? Es ist wundervoll. Die Natur, die Häuser - das Miteinander, die Weite. Ja, die Weite ist unser größter Schatz auf SantaMaria. Geht man seinen eigenen Weg, so kann man in der nächsten Sekunde die Gezelligkeit anderer finden - easy going, alles ist friedlich, offen, interessiert und froh ... der Owner ein besonderer Mensch und Gastgeber ... versuchen Sie es und wahrscheinlich mögen Sie immer wieder kommen ... ohne das ein Moment so ist wie immer ... Lovely secluded Italian cottage in the grounds of a larger holiday property

A lovely property, sympathetically modernised, which sits in the grounds of a larger holiday home. The property was clean and well cared-for, with a pleasant kitchen/dining/sitting room, a single large bedroom and en excellent shower room. The cottage has its own small garden and seating area, which is reasonably private. We also enjoyed use of the pool which is shared with other holiday properties in the grounds. Although we did not find that the towns in the immediate locality had a great deal to offer, we enjoyed making forays from this base to places as diverse as Lake Bolsena, Therme di Saturnia, Orvieto, Pitigliano, the coast and especially Civita di Bagnoregio, which was stunning !

Fantastic property, location and hosts - Exceeded our expectations

I booked the property for a week in August 2018 with my wife and two young children and we had a fantastic time. The photos of the property made it look nice, but to be honest the reality was so much better than we expected. The setting is truly beautiful. It's peaceful, calm and quiet while at the same time it's very easy to reach lovely towns in the area such as Orvieto. Rainer and Peter were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome, as did their very friendly dogs, cats and peacocks! I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the property, except that I am tempted to keep it a secret, lest we find it fully booked for our next visit.

Ho soggiornato con la mia famiglia nella casa singola un po in disparte rispetto al corpo centrale. L’accoglienza è stata ottima la casa dotata di tutti i comfort e ideale per i bambini che hanno potuto sfruttare lo spazio all’esterno. Piscina e spazi verdi della teuta completano la qualità eccellente del nostro soggiorno. Nessuna nota negativa solo voglia di tornarci al più presto.

Au bout du chemin, le sourire et l’accueil de Peter. Nous avons fait le bon choix pour notre premier long séjour en Italie. La cassetta, notre gîte, un peu à l’écart dans cette magnifique propriété, nous attendait. Rien ne manque, nous avons rarement vu un logement aussi bien équipé. Des hôtes charmants, une piscine somptueuse, un accès privatif, tout pour un séjour extraordinaire. La propriété aménagée avec style offrait même un accès au potager. Merci encore pour votre accueil, votre écoute et la gentillesse de vos chiens.

Perfection

My partner and I visited in August 2017, we are in our early 30's and do not have children. Although all of the reviews on here are fantastic not one of them do the actual experience justice. We stayed in the cottage for a week and we didn't want to leave. The location is very quiet and feels as though you are in the middle of nowhere but there are several small quaint towns within 5 mins driving distance. Within the cottage itself is everything you could possibly need and then some! Peter was so welcoming and even allowed us to pick vegtables from their allotment, provided eggs from their chickens and wine! We couldn't have felt more welcome. We will certainly be back and we have a few family memebers who would like to go after we raved about it upon our return! If you are looking for peace and quiet and a place to get away from a busy life this is certainly the place to be.

Ein Paradies!

Als wir vor 11 Jahren zum ersten Mal in diesem Paradies Urlaub gemacht haben, war das Liebe auf den ersten Blick. Das gesamte Anwesen liegt auf 550 Meter Höhe und hat eine fantastische Lage mit einem traumhaften Blick in die umbrischen Weiten. Das Cottage liegt ganz separat und bietet Ruhe und absolute Privatsphäre. Im 20 Meter Pool kann man täglich seine Bahnen ziehen oder einfach nur unter dem Feigenbaum den Schatten genießen. Für ein italienisches Abendessen geht man in den hauseigenen Gemüsegarten und erntet Tomaten, Zucchini, Kräuter und was das Herz begehrt. Abgesehen davon gibt es in den umliegenden Ortschaften hervorragende Restaurants und Weingüter. Dieser Ort ist der perfekte Platz um zur Ruhe zu kommen und abzuschalten. So werden wir wohl auch im nächsten Jahr wieder aufbrechen ins schöne Umbrien, um einen perfekten Urlaub zu verbringen.
