If you are looking for a serene getaway with an abundance of nature, this is the place. It’s beautiful, quiet, and generously supplied with elk, coyotes, turkey, and birds.
We enjoyed our stay in this very cozy property. It was just the right fit for a family holiday escape into the country. Very peaceful and beautiful. It even snowed on Christmas Day.
We enjoyed watching the fifteen elk graze in the meadow in the evenings and loved rowing and kayaking in the peaceful pond with our family. Really is a great escape and great way to connect with nature
As always, a wonderfully relaxing and pleasant stay! The home is well-maintained and comfortable…with a delightful yard and pond. Thank you for making this getaway available!
We loved the peace and beauty of this charming farmhouse. Such a relaxing place to stay after the crowded Cumbres Toltec train ride. We appreciated how well the house was equipped, loved hearing and seeing elk, coyotes and the deer that had breakfast right by the pond. Will recommend it to others.
This is a very clean and comfortable home. We saw a lot of wildlife every day. The poech was our favorite to sor and wstch the elk late in the evening. The pond was beautiful, caught a lot of crawdads.
The home is wonderfully cozy and so much fun for families. We loved sitting in front of the gas fireplace each evening, playing badminton, and the kids paddled around in the boats left by the dock. We stayed the week of Thanksgiving, and the kitchen was stocked with everything we could possibly need for a Thanksgiving meal. There is a large closet upstairs that is fully stocked with games and toys for younger kids- truly something for every age range. This house feels like going home. The host was very kind and accommodating. She made everything so easy and comfortable. Would highly recommend this property!
My husband took 3 family members for an elk hunt in Chama area. The home was perfect, availability and convenience for the hunt was exceptional! They had the conveniences of home…and truly appreciated the downstairs area DID NOT have televisions! They were able to visit throughout the 5 days uninterrupted by a TV! We will rent this home again.
This is a wonderful place to enjoy the beautiful northern New Mexico country with the family we had a relaxing and amazing time here. Everything was thoughtfully provided we had everything we needed to enjoy the quiet weekend away!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay…the house was adorable, incredibly well-stocked, and spotless. Everyone enjoyed kayaking, floating and swimming every day. Lots of beautiful hiking trails nearby. We were lucky to spot elk, coyotes, and other wildlife across the pond. It is a fun and peaceful place, with plenty of activities nearby, such as the Cumbres & Toltec train, wildlife area in Chama, Heron and El Vado lakes, cliff dwellings, etc. We look forward to staying again next year. Thank you for making this property available! It’s the new family favorite!
You cannot get better views than from this house. There are mountains and water in one vast view overlooking various wildlife from chipmunk to elk. The boats were great for the kids to ride around the pond, and it was within walking steps of the house. My nine year old daughter learned to kayak for the first time. Both the girls also enjoyed the various toys like tea sets and board games provided. Thank you so much for the opportunity to enjoy your home.

Slice of Summer!
We celebrated my father-in-law's 80th birthday over the long weekend, spending lots of time at the house. It was a perfect slice of summertime - with the covered porch when it rained, the deck when we wanted the sun, the pond for kayaking and floating, a badminton course... Everything was perfect. Really well tended and stocked. We had 8 of us and had such a wonderful time. It's quiet and out of the way (unfortunately too far for us to get to often) - and the wildlife was great - elk, deer, muskrat (we think), raccoon, garter snakes... Highly recommend if you're looking for a relaxing getaway.
We stayed at the property 5 years ago and enjoyed it so much we came back. It's perfect for a family getaway with extended family. We love to sit on the deck or porch and watch the world go by. The kids (and adults) played lots of outdoor games and used the kayak and rowboat, too. We missed the badminton set, though! The turkeys, coyote, and deer out back were fabulous hosts, too. :)
There was a pesky squirrel that liked to come around, but we were able to shoo him after a bit.
If we have reason to be in northern New Mexico again, it's definitely our go-to place to stay!
We could not get the stopper in the upstairs bathroom sink to operate. We removed for the stay.

The setting is gorgeous, peaceful and quiet. There were alot of wildlife and birds. However,a couple of days before our stay the owner sent us details that included information about their iron-laden water. The dishwasher was black as a result and we did not feel comfortable using it. We couldn't use the washer for the same reason and after day two we stopped taking showers because the smell was nauseating. It was on all of the cutlery, dishes and our hair and bodies. The natural beauty did not compensate for the unpleasantness of the water. Also, there were many things that did not work in the house (screen door to the porch, gas stove did not work properly, remote control batteries, etc.). There was some drinking water to get us through the first night but we had to go into town right away for more..I would think this would be taken care of by the owner who chooses not to put in a water filter/softener. We would definitely not recommend this property to others.
The road coming to the house was a bit bumpy. The house is Awesome! Everything we needed was at our fingertips! We were greeted by a glimpse of a doe & fawn on the other side of the pond. Little did we know that the next evening the pair accompanied by another yearling came literally within 10 feet from me on the deck, just walking through as though I didn't exist, in absolutely no rush to get anywhere! As they were munching away on the lush lawn, an entire herd of elk came into view in the meadow! We couldn't wait to get back each day to enjoy the show! It feels like the house is an intricate part of the meadow! Thank you so much for sharing your home,
We did not want to leave, can't wait to come back!!
