Chilaw Cheap Hotels

"When we checked in, the AC was not cooling, the bathroom mirror light was not working. They could not fix either of the two issues. They did not have spare bulb for the light. They tried to work on the AC and could just get it to work with minimum cooling which was not enough for Sri Lankan weather. There wasn't a single soap or other toiletries kept in the room. Had to search for the staff to get some soap bars. We stayed for 5 days and the there was no Housekeeping even for a single day. The only saving grace was the restaurant down below. The food was good but if you opt for included breakfast, they serve you a fixed menu every morning (Two slices of toast, two fried eggs, one sausage, little salad and tea/coffe). The location is good , walking distance from the beach."

"Small criticism but big bathroom blind was broken. Room stunning as were views. Food lovely . Staff lovely. Two 60 metre pools! Great beach location. Would love to come back"

" Was a good package type destination with coaches coming in from the airport. Nothing wrong with that but we had been staying in less busy Sri Lankan hotels prior to coming. No complaints but not really us."

"Amazing stay"

"Customer service is top notch 10 out of 10. I arrived at 2 am in the morning and the clerk had to get out of bed and was waiting on the street. The hotel is a beautiful villa with a pool at an unbelievably low price. You can easily pay more for an over price big Mac meal at an airport."

"Exceptionally Helpful Staff"

"This was the most terrible stay. The hotel was dilapidated, and did not look safe. There were holes in the walls, construction was going on, and the bathroom was not clean. Our balcony looked over a green murky pool in the adjacent property with mosquitoes on our balcony. We did not want to sleep in the bed and slept in our clothes and did not sleep well as the power went out at least 20 times during the night. No air or electricity . We checked out the next morning ( we were supposed to stay 2 nights). The staff were friendly and obviously not their fault. Not sure if the hotel is under renovations but do not think our rooms should be inhabited at this time."

"What a special place! My room was spotless and the staff were warm, kind, and attentive, and always willing to help with whatever I needed. The setting is fabulous - right on the ocean with a magnificent pool. The sea breeze was delightfully cooling as we ate delicious meals in the restaurant. The small raft was a super fun way to access the hotel when we arrived, and added to the tropical adventure atmosphere. "
