This property is almost to the end of the island on the east end. It is absolutely beautiful and the staff could not be nicer. The food at the restaurant is great and reasonably priced, particularly for a hotel/resort restaurant. The rooms are beautiful, bright and airy. The view is spectacular. We will visit again.

Quiet and Quaint East End Gem

Every single person on the staff was helpful and welcoming. This recently-renovated property is right on the ocean. Even though we visited past peak season (so it wasn't busy) we were treated so well by the staff. Food and drinks were top-notch. They have Japanese food on the weekend, and really good sanwiches, pizza, etc. in the bar. I will miss the cool, spacious room and the view from the balcony. Far east end of the island about 35 minutes from airport/Christiansted; very quiet. The fresh paint and murals serve up island character. Nice pool. They care for the resident cats very well too! If you are disabled, you should know that the elevator does not yet work, though there may be ground-level accessible accommodations.

It’s a quiet, beautiful location. We basically had the place to ourselves until the wine tasting night. It’s close to Point Udall, which is a great place to watch the sunrise. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. There were only two downsides. One, I booked a room for a family of five, so I assumed there would be a sofa/bed or just a sofa. I had to pay an additional $60 a night plus tax for a rollaway. Second, you really can’t go out into the water here. The beach goes straight to a dead coral reef, so you can’t walk out on it. However, it’s still beautiful to look at and there are several beautiful beaches nearby. You will need a car here.

Grapetree rooms have been updated and are very clean, comfy bed and great air conditioner !Staff is nice and food is very good! It’s quiet and has a big bar overlooking the ocean ! It’s on a small beach but not a swimmable one .Pool is big and warm . It’s open all the time which is awesome! It’s more of a resort for the older crowd and couples because it’s out quite far , which we loved! Make sure you have a car to go into town and visit the great beaches! We loved our stay here !!!

Unfortunately, we chose this property for a quiet, east end, dark sky, romantic stay. The biggest issue we had was a band the hotel hired (nothing against the band itself). They parked a pickup truck outside our room so they could unload/load gear and left it there. The band played two doors down from us and was open to the public for a $10 pool pass. This really just lead to lots of noise all day/night. Obstructed view of the beach ocean (due to the Tacoma Truck upgrade) and just not being able to enjoy ourselves. Hotels cant control some things like weather or power failures (frequent on St. Croix) - but they shouldnt do things that punish the people paying $600/night so they can sell pool passes and bring in a couple hundred extra for the band. Also, rooms were only serviced every third day (this is almost ok..but I would have preferred fresh towels every other day at least).

Flight canceled and didn't tell us why. No way to reschedule so had to cancel entire trip. Hotel refused refund even though admitted could fill rooms. Kept telling us to call back like they were considering it then said no because so busy! Rude and inconsiderate!

We were so happy to return to the Grapetree! The staff is so friendly and supportive to your needs. Everyone greets you with a smile. The rooms have a wonderful view of the bay with the sounds of waves calming you through the day. The rooms are airy and bright and very clean. The dining options give you a little of everything but again great service and delicious options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Although this resort is far away from the cities, that is the very reason we loved it! So beautiful, great ocean view from every room, wonderful staff who are the friendliest and most kind I've ever run into. Downsides would be that if you do not like to walk (we do), you'd need a car to get to Point Udall (which we missed on this trip), nearby casino & to the cities. Hiking trail right by the resort led to a turtle nesting beach, and great views of the island - be sure to wear leggings & good walking shoes - trail is a bit rocky & rough in spots. We used cabs & the VIHail ride share. That was very good & convenient to use. FYI cabs have set rates, so it'll cost you about $70 to get from airport to the hotel. Overall, we spent about $250 on transportation between cabs & share app. Still much cheaper than renting a car. We can't wait to return to this one next year & want to thank everyone at Grapetree Bay Hotel for a fantastic stay!

Had a great stay at this small boutique hotel. It wasn't a busy week but the staff was still very attentive and helpful. Tiffany, Morgan and Dustin were some of the staff we interacted with regularly and all were great. Met the owners who were there every day making sure all was right. Very down to earth people and genuinely glad to have you there as their guests.
