“Large clean room with crisp sheets on the bed. Both the bed and the pillows were too firm, resulting in limited sleep
I was convinced that continental breakfast was included when I booked the room. However the Expedia booking did not state that ,nor did the information sent to the Porters Lodge. The charge was though only £5 pp.”

“Hotel is in a great location - just over 15 minute walk to the train station, close to shops and the Cathedral - looks like the downstairs has been elegantly renovated. Beautiful newly-refurbished bedroom, with some really thoughtful extra touches - such as a rubber bathmat and handrail, electric fan, suitcase stand, and biscuits every day with the tea and coffee. I liked being able to open the window.
Some of the staff seemed less friendly and professional than one would expect - however,……

“This hotel provided a reasonably sized and comfortable room. The bathroom, although a bit small, was well-organized, making it convenient for guests. The breakfast was excellent value for money, offering a variety of hot food options.
However, the bathroom had a very unpleasant smell that persisted throughout our entire stay of six days. I suspect it was coming from the shower curtain fabric or the sewer line. Additionally, the bathtowels were not made of cotton.”

“Hidden gem.
Excellent value accommodation with large bedroom and bathroom featuring quality fittings aligning with the period house. We had a delightful hot breakfast with a great selection of freshly prepared ingredients.
Pleasant garden surroundings great to walk around and explore.
Ample on-site parking too.
Staff were very accommodating.
Unfortunately due to our UK travel plans we could only stay for 1 night.

“The room was good in size and decor , garden room suite.
We were on the ground floor the room above us you could hear everything even the person snoring , the floor must have been floorboards and we could hear everything, This woke us up and continued throughout the morning!”

“We stayed a night after spending the day at Oldfield Forge. The property was lovely and well kept with a very big room. The owner was super helpful and the breakfast the next day was great. We really recommend this property for anyone staying in the area.”

“Phil is a great host, he explained and gave us a quick tour of the property, he gave us good recommendations for little excursions. The property was clean and very cosy, I would always recommend for anyone who wants to get away from the busy city life... ”
