Not my recommendation !
Located in Colombo 5, afar from most of the few attractions Colombo has to offer, staying there will cost you extra money paying for tuk-tuk rides. The train station is also 40 minutes to 1hour far from there. My taxi driver could not find the place and could not reach the "manager" as he spends more time in his room over his phone than at the reception. I actually experienced it whereas he did not know I was already in. I had to go and fetch him (he has a room near the kitchen) as the phone kept ringing endlessly. Clearly old dated this place needs some renovation work although the bed was comfortable, (stains on the bed sheets) and a wardrobe with a "safe" is made available. What looks like a swimming pool is not one. When I was there is was empty. It is more a bassinet than a pool. No shops around so make sure you have water and food with you. Quiet place though ! Definitely overrated by previous review!!!

Lovely, quiet hotel!
We stayed at Backpackers Villas for our first few days in Sri Lanka. We were welcomed by a lovely lady & the hotel caretaker was absolutely fantastic - he picked bunches of bananas for us every day! It is out of Colombo city, though there are loads of eateries within walking distance of the hotel. It was definitely a quiet hotel as we were the only guests there! Highly recommend staying a night or two here when arriving in Sri Lanka. Its quiet, the A/C is great & the upstairs common area has comfy couches & beach bags to sit & read on.

Vi havde lidt problemer med at finde det, og ankom tidligere ind tjek ind. Men døren stod åben, så vi satte os i lobbyen og ventede. Herefter kom en mulig rengøringsdame og så os, hun ringede til nogen og begynde at gøre er værelse klart, hun talte ikle engelsk. Dermed fik vi et værelse, men vi mødte aldrig nogle i receptionen så vi fik aldrig officielt tjekket ind eller ud. Værelse var dog over alt forventning og selve huset var rent og vedligeholdt.
