Fun and Family Friendly

We had a good stay, Pool was not working for first two days of stay, but owner was able to get company out to fix for last couple of days. Air ducts in house are really dirty could use a good cleaning! Overall, rest of home was clean and well kept.

Fun modern house in a good location

Overall we had a great stay here! Everything was clean, maintained and convenient. Our biggest complaint was the pest problem in the downstairs.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was very clean, modern and in great condition. It is an ideal place to stay in Port A. You are very close to the beach access roads and it is conveniently located near all of old Port A restaurants and shops. The only less than ideal feature is the dipping pool being right on 11th Street but the fence blocks most of the views from the passing carts and cars. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful modern house that's a dream to cook in

This was such a great house that was very thoughtfully designed. I made a full Thanksgiving dinner in the kitchen and it was stocked with absolutely every gadget and tool I needed. We loved the dog run in the back yard, which was a nice touch. The property manager had great communication and was easy to contact. To top it off, my dad, who NEVER likes any mattress, ranted and raved about the mattress in the primary bedroom. Every bed, even the twins in the bunk room had really comfortable bedding. It's the thoughtful planning and design that really make this a five star vacation rental.

Cool place

We had a wonderful time in this house. 11th street is busy on weekend evenings but the house was very well built and most of the bedrooms were on the opposite side of house. The bed in the master was a big softer than I like. There were lots of pillow choices. The sheets felt ok.. not super high thread count but ok. The AC worked great and there are fans in every room. The pool was private enough for us. Yes, it is near 11th street but the fence is high enough. There is no outside furniture but since the mosquitos are so plentiful (and large) in texas.. we wanted to get in the water as quick as possible. Port A escapes is an awesome management company that was super helpful and even responded after hours!! I would choose them over all other companies we have rented from!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our vacation did not start off on the right foot this year as our house was a few minutes late being ready. Not usually a big deal however we got to town early because usually Port A Escapes has their homes ready early so we were counting on that. The only reason I was so frustrated really wasn't even their fault it was raining on the island the day of our arrival. With children and pets who couldn't get out of the car due to the weather, they were making me bonkers after spending 4 hours driving to Port A and another 3 hours driving around the island waiting on the house to be cleaned. Again, no blame on Port A Escapes for that situation. Once, we received the code to our house and made our way inside we were immediately disgusted by the smell of cigarette smoke and cigarette burns on furniture. I immediately called the agency and after discussing options with them their management team without hesitation sent us the code to another house that completely exceeded our expectations. Due to their quick response in remedying a dreadful situation, our vacation was relaxing and enjoyable. We have always used Port A Escapes for our vacations to the island and because of their excellent customer service with the one time we have ever had an issue with them, I will never even look at other agencies. I will always tell everyone I know looking to rent a house in Port A, that if they want someone who is going to truly do their best to make your vacation the best it can be then they should choose Port A escapes as well!! And the Modern By The Sea homes are absolutely, stunningly beautiful and modern! They are built from metal shipping containers and are so unique!

Fun property, good for families!

The only negatives were that a lot of the bedding had stains on it, the pool was really warm, and there was no seating around it. However, we loved the top balcony and the split level of the rooms. There was plenty of space for a family of 8-10. The vibes were very cute, and there were plenty of toiletries and towels. The great mudroom on the first floor was also nice to have after a day at the beach. We enjoyed the location, which is on a busier road, but the house is well insulated.

My only complaint would be checking in - we weren't sent the address until after 5:00 and then the door code didn't work, but that got fixed in a jiff! Also, both bathroom sink drains on the lower floor wouldn't drain. Other than that, everything was perfect :)

Real let down to our usual experience

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I want to start off by saying myself and our family have used this property management company for almost 5 years, with every experience being amazing and when there were issues it was always handled professionally and appropriately. I will still likely give them another chance in the future, but I will say this stay was overall disappointing. On arrival everything appeared perfect, but when it came time for bed we discovered the twin bedroom that our kids would sleep in was infested with ants. As we inspected further we found nicotine gum in the room as well, which could be devastating if ingested by children. I also found the issue attracting ants, which would have easily been discovered if the property was thoroughly inspected and cleaned before arrival. I shared these concerns initially with the person on call (who was super helpful and willing to come out immediately to address) and further concerns with management during our stay, and that response felt very dismissive and unlike any other encounter we’ve ever experienced. Overall this seems like an outlier and I know those things happen, but when you’re paying for a premium space at a premium price I expect more, and I hope these issues are resolved for our future visits and for the visits of others.
