Upon arrival we immediately noticed an unpleasant “trash” smell that quickly led us to fact that house was not clean. In each of the bathrooms and in the kitchen the trash from the previous tenants had not been taken out. There was toothpaste splatter on the faucets and mirrors, hair in the tub and showers and on the bathroom floor/rugs. The floors throughout the house were littered with crumbs and clearly had not been swept. There were even bits of trash and an old pair of sandals left on the back porch. Although the sheets did appear to be changed and clean, the kitchen counters and cabinet knobs were grimy and greasy which I’m sure is one of the reasons (along with the trash) that we killed multiple huge roaches during the stay. Having stayed in our fair share of house rentals as a large family, we were not by any means TRYING to find filth, but did feel that the property owner needed to be aware of the negligence of the cleaning services. The owner insisted that the home WAS indeed clean and replied that, “Sorry, it is not a five star hotel.” If we were trying to be nit-picky with the owner, we might’ve also mentioned the dust throughout the house, bugs and dirt in the windowsills, leftover takeout containers left in the fridge, the used/soiled washcloth left in the shower, or the 2-car garage so packed full of junk that only one vehicle could fit. I write this in hopes that the owner will take their tenants comments seriously and reevaluate their cleaning services.
