Hotel fronte lago, con appartamenti su 2 piani ben arredati e completi di tutti gli accessori. Il giudizio eccellente è dato sostanzialmente per la posizione, la struttura isolata nel bosco si affaccia direttamente sul lago. Ogni appartamento ha un terrazzino con una vista incredibile. Il resto, è in linea con gli standard scozzesi.

Very secluded, a number of miles down a single track road with passing places. The hotel itself is the key property down the road with no shops. The property has its own harbour with boats and fishing equipment. There are electrical car charging points if you need them. Very dog friendly with free treats. The restaurant was very good and all the staff extremely friendly. Fantastic views across the loch.

Beautiful view of Loch Awe. Isolated on single lane road. Was a great place to stay after Cruacan Power Station tour.

Never coming back
Hotel a bit dated, staff nice however we had difficulties finding our room and nobody would actually come and help us. The rooms have names not numbers so there was no indication which way to look for it. we were told our room was on the second floor, we checked them all and didn’t find, then we checked first floor, still nothing, went back to the reception and received the same directions. We did this all with our bags in might add. Eventually we have found it at the end of the corridor behind the emergency door. The room and bathroom was a bit dated but the worst was the water, it was yellow. We were having dinner at the hotel restaurant and despite the fact the restaurant wasn’t even full we waited over an hour for our food. We we’re staying only for one night and we’re actually happy to leave early in the morning.

Thank you for posting your comment.I’m very very sorry your couldn’t follow the directions to find your room. Our peaty water is written all over our listing and website and I’m sorry your didn’t read that before booking . With regards to our restaurant we do ask table are booked in advance in busy periods ,everything is cooked from fresh . We are glad we could accommodate you at such short notice

Hotel Portsonachan was one of our top experiences during our travels! It’s just what we needed when we were ready to escape the cities and unwind with nature. The beauty is incredible there & the staff made our stay even better! We enjoyed the welcoming feeling of it being like a home away from home-especially since we were a long ways from home! Highly recommend!

Lovely welcome,stunning location and good food. Loch side road a bit treacherous but we were on motorbikes. Gorgeous setting worth traveling to.

Relaxing Beautiful Vacation
Excellent on all levels. Scottish hospitality was abundant. We arrived at the train station and the staff came to collect us and was constantly available to assist us with travel and tours. Food was amazing. Atmosphere and scenery stunning! Worth every pence!

Outdated . Service in restaurant was slow . Menu is outdated . Breakfast was good but had to ask to be served 5 times in the span of 40 minutes. Staff seemed stressed . Dirty towels in the room .hole in the roof where a lightbulb should have been . Shampoo bottles dirty and empty in the bathroom . Great location and amazing view but the place was a letdown .

We offered and offered to remedy this , the bedding was ironed we do not starch bedding , you reported it the morning after you slept in the lochside apartment . We are situated in the wilds of Scotland surrounded with wildlife , , your patio area where the door open out are subject to the Loch and its wildlife . We tried to remedy your issues by saying we would remove what appeared to have been slept in bedding but to no avail . We are sorry you didn’t like our popular apartment s

Nice Loch Side Hotel
Nice loch side hotel. Clean with bottled water in the room. A bit tricky getting proper water temperature at first, but fogured it out. Had dinner once and continental breakfast once..bith were acceptable. *Note* we arrived after dark using the gps in our rental car. It showed "you have arrived" in the middle of nowhere. Proceed on another 1/2 mi and you will find it.

10/10 location but place has been neglected
So this hotel location is amazing. But cleanliness and service was really bad. The receptionist was nice & polite however we soon worked it out for ourself’s within the first hour of waiting to check in that day that she was holding fort for the hotels fall downs and it’s actually the cleaners / manager (learnt from other reviews her name is Tracey and she’s really cheeky) that are letting the place down. We stayed in the “cabins” which are basically 2 storey apartments with a patio on the loch! Literally cannot fault the location at all. BEST LOCATION! check in was suppose to be 4pm which is late as it was- we didn’t get the keys till after 5pm with no explanation literally told to sat on a bench and wait which was so weird. We heard from other guests also waiting or previously waited they witnessed the cleaners working so slow they could work backwards constantly out the front of the lodges smoking every 5 mins per lodge like and obviously don’t know how to put some elbow grease in as our place wasn’t clean at all. Dirty glasses that literally hasn't been washed. No patio chairs and smelt like wet dog. Main Hotel also grubby everything window cill / skirting board in the place needs a good wash. This hotel has so much potential it really is a shame what bad management can do. Get Gordon Ramsey hotel nightmares on this joint. Wish I could buy it and do it justice.

Fantastic location, stunning views across the loch. We paid £100.00 which was great value.The food was also very good. This is an old property so don't expect it to be immaculate but it is full of charm and the staff are fabulous....

Dirty, old, rundown, rude staff, unfortunately didn't read other reviews until we were waiting until 5:30 for our room to be ready and then it was to late. Do not stay here.

Room was in coach house as we had our dog with us, accessed by a metal staircase with deteriorating steps. The room ( Fyne ) was not ready one bed not made, toilet seat loose and u/s light. Generally the conservatory where we ate dinner and breakfast needed a good clean to remove dead flies from the window sills and freshen up paintwork the exterior of the building loch side needed maintenance to remove plants growing in hotel wall. Dinner Service was slow and we felt we were overlooked as no one to greet us and we found a table ourselves. Continental Breakfast everything arrived at once following order . Whole area around hotel needed a good clean up dog litter bin overflowing piled high skips and smelly bins together with removed kitchen equipment littered areas just passed hotel. Overall not somewhere we would go back too and a lovely position next to loch spoiled.

Disappointing, but at least we got a room!!
Check in time wasn't until 4pm, so we arrived a few minutes after. The hotel is in a very quiet secluded spot next to the Loch. Worryingly, on arrival they had not recieved the booking from hotels.com, never happened before! Thankfully the staff had another room, but we had to wait 2 hours to get into it while they cleaned it. This was a 2 bedroomed apartment in the coach house and it was lovely. 2 bathrooms, lovely lounge and kitchen, with great views over the Loch. Would recommend this for anyone staying a few nights. There was little info in the room about the hotel or restaurant etc but I caught sight of a notice on reception that you cannot drink the water. In the room was bottled water for drinking and teeth brushing etc. I feel that if this is a health hazard it should be published clearly in every room. We booked a meal in the restaurant and the food was great, really nice. Service was OK but one waiter collected dishes and served food the second took orders etc. Now they don't do each others roles, so if you want another drink they ask the other to sort it. Bearing mind the restaurant is large I had finished my meal before my drinks order was taken!!!! Overall, yes the hotel is tired in places but it's a large building. The staff seem overwhelmed with customers whinges and complaints. Some had no hot water as we were checking out. Would we stay again? No sorry we wouldn't. Too many internal issues that need resolving to make the customers stay better.

We are glad that you did stay after the confusion with hotels .com reservation system , the apartment you were allocated was bigger than you had originally booked and we did not pass on the extra price to yourselves , we are glad you did read the sign in reception regarding the water , it’s excellent that you did see our notification , our staff are helpful to each other and this makes for a happy team , we are glad that hot water was plentiful for you in your accommodation . I am a little confused by your review as it states you recommend us for a stay for a few days but you wouldn’t return . Hope you had a safe trip home

Wouldn’t stay there again. So many issues with my room and not one thing was done to fix the problems. No hot water, no television and the room was total filth. I had a 2 year old with me who had no cot or bed to sleep in even though they told us there would be a bed for him. The list goes on….

Don't waste your money in this bar or restaurant
A superb location in the middle of nowhere with views over Loch Awe. Although self-catering decided to give the restaurant my business. BIG mistake which completely ruined our stay. Arrived at restaurant at allotted time to be told by the barman - "sit there and they will come and get you. We have a big queue in front of you". Not..."would you like a drink while you are waiting and here is the menu and wine list to peruse"! Got taken to restaurant 20 minutes later. A further 15 minutes to be given a menu which was simply "pub food"...what a let-down. Had to ask for wine menu. After a further 10 minutes a bottle of wine was ordered and eventually delivered. The WRONG wine. Didn't have the one ordered anyway, so accepted a substitute - asked if I'd like to sample it - a screw-top! After a glass of white wine my wife noticed a red ring at bottom of glass - clearly hadn't been cleaned properly. 15 minutes for a fresh one! Barman stomping about and clearly in a bad mood which he wished to share. Food arrived after an hour and was good. Checked out next day and later that morning received a call from hotel saying that a ticket was still in the till which said I hadn't paid for the wine. I had to quote from the paid receipt in front of me! All hotels are busy but manage to cope. Management is to blame here with lack of staff training. Either sack the barman or educate him in customer service and manners. Certainly won’t be returning to this hotel run by Basil Fawlty.

Family 2 night stay with our dog . We stayed in the apartments to the side of the hotel . Views are incredible (tiree) from balcony . A little dated inside down stairs but everything you need . You can hire boats to explore , book in advance. Single track road to the hotel
