Zero stars wasn’t an option. Filthy carpet and walls, broken and worn furniture. Staff tried to scam more money out of me, said I had no reservation and my paid receipt from Expedia meant nothing. Terrible place to stay with a terrible staff

Paid ahead of time for reservations and the hotel pulled the old bait and switch when I arrived, nearly doubled in price claiming my reservation was no where to be found despite having a printed copy from Expedia in my hand. I highly recommend not staying or even making reservations. If you're attending the Walnut IA Antique Show, definitely not recommended. Never felt safe around Section 8 residents smelling like weed.

Chuck the property manager was very nice and helpful but there was no soap in the room. No smoke alarm. No directions for the direct TV. Place is being remodeled which we were not aware of. Beds were clean but not very comfortable

Parking up the hill behind was not easy. Most room doors face the lot, so, not too secure feeling, but quiet was nice.

Great place to stay!

It was very nice! People were very accommodating. I just didn’t like that the doors were locked from 10-6am and no access to get in. They were very helpful though in leaving the door unlocked or propped for me.

If you made reservation via Expedia and have your receipt it will mean nothing to the Staff or Manager. You will be extorted for additional costs saying they lost your reservation or it was never confirmed. They had no vacancy for the 5 nights that I paid for via Expedia, but no problem with available rooms if I paid in full their new room rate. I was in the area for a special event (Walnut IA Annual Antique Show) along with other Vendors who stay at the Harlan Inns & Suites (6 others) who had the same problem with prepaid rooms being lost or never confirmed. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to pay the increased rate as most hotels in the area were sold out for the event. Once I get a determination from Expedia I will be filing in the small claims court for Shelby County IA and see if I can correct the Highway Robbery practice at this hotel once and for all. I'm retired so I have nothing better to do!
