Comfort Inn & Suites Watertown - 1000 Islands

"I booked this hotel for the pool. Usually I stay in Fort Drum for a lower price, but travelling companion wanted a pool. When you search Watertown for hotels with a pool, this location is identified along with others with pools. A photo of the pool is the second photo for this listing and there is a second photo in the list. The search summary for the location shows a swimmer icon and the word "pool" is prominent in the description. But naw you gotta read the fine print. Upon arrival when we asked about pool hours, we learned it had not been open for 5 months. The night clerk sharing us this information was quite nice. But it was odd that he was wearing a Hawaiian type shirt featuring the Marvel/ Spider-Man character "Venom". And only upon check out did we learn that they can arrange for use of the pool at the Hampton Inn and Suites (was told there is common ownership of the Watertown locations). And many excuses given for the misleading Hotels.com listing. Hampton Inn and Suites was the other option I was considering booking ... because it has a pool. So, basically I have ended up paying $60 more for no additional value. Room is fine. Breakfast is fine. Disappointed that you need to study the fine print of the listing to see that there is no pool access - even though there were incredibly strong indicators that the pool was operational. Never again will I stay at this location or brand. Likely will skip the Hampton Inn too, given the common ownership/management."

"Great price and super helpful and friendly staff. Very convenient to interstate for those traveling. There is a pool that is not for use. Looks abandoned, so this hotel is just great for a stop on your way to somewhere."

"Very helpful staff. They are renovating some areas, but there is no construction debris lying around like you usually see with hotel renovations. Room was clean. Everything was in good working condition. Lots of hot water. Extra blanket in the closet if needed, which is rare these days. There were decent toiletries in the bathroom, which was nice since I left mine in the car & didn't feel like going back out. I do like that the place is pet-friendly for folks traveling with a pet, but the only downside was there was a dog in a nearby room that barked for about 10 minutes straight late at night & woke us up. We will stay again when in the area."
