Romantic rustic house in the mountains of Madrid

  • This is our self-designed and built in the 90s for the weekend dream home. Our style is rather rustic and the furniture is older pieces, which I partially restored myself. The property is left natural. If you would like to take a break from everyday life or write a book, go on nature trips, look for historic sites in the area, country, people, culture and way of life, then this is the place for you. The center of Madrid is only 47 km away and easy to reach. By car you are there in 35 minutes.

    You have the entire ground floor with kitchen, bathroom, dining and living room (open concept). You can also make yourself comfortable on the large terrace. In summer, the small porch at the entrance is fresher.

    In the future, we also want to rent the attic, so that even larger groups find space.

    In winter you can make yourself comfortable by the fireplace. Wood is sufficiently available.

    The kitchen is equipped with all the essentials: crockery, pots, cutlery, ceramic hob (4 sections), microwave, refrigerator.

    We still wash by hand. :-)

    Towels and towels are ready. Toilet paper and basic equipment such as dish soap too.

    You are also invited to sit on the large veranda on the south side. We love to eat and chat there. While guests are in the house, we live in Madrid city. If you are interested in more tips or questions about the country and its people, we can sit on the veranda and I'll explain everything to you.

    Please do not make a fire on the property. There is an increased risk of fire.

    If you want to barbecue, please contact me first. As long as the terrain is dry, grilling is prohibited because of the risk of fire.

Hemos estado alojados una semana, medio trabajo medio vacaciones y ha sido una casa perfecta para las dos cosas: muy cómoda para teletrabajar y muy cómoda para descansar. Lo suficientemente cerca del centro del pueblo, para tener compras y ocio cerca y lo suficientemente retirada en la urbanización y el terreno lleno de robles como para sentirnos más cerca de la naturaleza y poder descansar y disfrutar del silencio y la tran

Roomy comfortable home in a terrific location

As Americans touring Spain, our four night stay in El Boalo was just great. This home is a great choice for travelers looking for a home base outside Madrid. Just 40 minutes from the Madrid airport, we found ourselves in a quaint, mountain side community with beauty in every direction. Each day we made side trips to amazing sites, including San Lorenzo and its giant monastery, El Escorial; the historic Segovia with its Roman aqueduct and historic Alcazar; San Ildefonso to see the impressive Palace and gardens; and Avila for its walled old city and wonderful gothic cathedral. All locations were reached in less than an hour and the amazing drive over Navacerrada pass was an exciting and beautiful side trip in its own right. Our only regret was that we did not allow enough time to hike the beautiful mountains that surrounded us with wonderful vistas. One could stay in this lovely home for a week of hiking without running out of trails and peaks to conquer. The home is beautifully done; a touch of Bavaria in Spain. It is set in a second home community that is quiet and low key. We walked to the center of town for generous and delicious meals at local restaurants served at a fair price, sitting outside with the locals. Heinz the owner was generous with is time showing us through the home and explaining the area thoroughly. The house has a large kitchen, nice living room with a fireplace, dining area with a view and a large porch to enjoy the outdoors. If I lived in Madrid and liked hiking, I would rent this home 3-4 times a year just to be in the lovely spot! We had a great time, we would love to come back.

Fijn en gezellig huis op prachtige plek.

Ook al kwamen wij veel te laat aan, toch was de ontvangst door Heinz perfect! En ook het vertrek was uiterst soepel. Alles er tussen in was fijn en het wandelen direct vanuit het huis is werkelijk fantastisch. Het dorp is heel prettig met een aardig dorpsplein met terrasjes. Top!

Semana genial en la sierra

La casa es muy acogedora, estaba perfectamente limpia y bien equipada. El dueño es muy amable y facilita mucho la entrada y salida, también proporciona una buena guía del pueblo. Es de agradecer el detalle de que los utensilios de limpieza estaban nuevos. La cama y sofá cama son amplios y suficientemente cómodos. Sólo eché de menos un microondas. Muy bien situada en la sierra de Madrid con acceso rápido a rutas por la montaña y buenos restaurantes. La urbanización no puede ser más tranquila. El pueblo también es tranquilo para que chavales puedan estar a su aire un rato, hay pistas deportivas muy cerca.

Preciosa casa a los pies de nuestra sierra

A los pies de la Sierra de Los Porrones, entre La Pedriza y La Maliciosa disfrutamos de un magnífico fin de semana en la casa de Heinz, que nos recibió muy amablemente y nos enseñó su acogedora, confortable y preciosa casa con su historia. Perfectamente equipada y muy bien situada para caminar por la montaña.

Ein sehr schönes Ferienhaus in toller Lage

Auf der Suche nach einem Urlaubsort in Zentralspanien sind wir auf das ansprechende große Ferienhaus in El Boalo im Guadarramagebirge , nahe Madrid gelegen, aufmerksam geworden. Mit dem Mietauto vom Flughafen ist El Boalo in weniger als einer Stunde zu erreichen. Die Schlüsselübergabe mit dem Vermieter vor Ort war sehr angenehm und informativ. Das Haus ist großzügig, rustikal und gut durchdacht gebaut sowie funktionell eingerichtet. Es bietet viel Platz auch für mehrere Personen. Wir haben uns gleich wohlgefühlt. Das Haus liegt in einer ruhigen Villengegend mit landschaftlich schöner Umgebung und einer sehr günstigen Lage zur Hauptstadt bzw. ins Gebirge. Vom Essbereich im Erker hatten wir einen tollen Blick ins Grüne und auf die Berge. Der Küchenbereich ist recht geräumig, was wir besonders beim Kochen geschätzt haben. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an den Vermieter für die vielen Informationen zu dem köstlichen und echt guten Bio Olivenöl, welches wir benutzt und bei ihm auch käuflich erworben haben. Wir sind von der Qualität sehr angetan und werden es bestimmt auch weiterhin verwenden. Auch der Tipp vom Vermieter, im Ort bei einer Ziegenfarm den selbsterzeugten Ziegenkäse zu probieren, ist klasse. Alltägliche Einkäufe kann man in El Boalo zu Fuß gut erledigen. Aber auch im nahegelegenen Nachbarort Manzanares el Real lässt es sich gut und regional einkaufen. Obwohl wir in den zwei Wochen einiges gesehen und erlebt haben, gibt es hier noch vieles mehr zu entdecken. Und immer wieder waren wir von der Freundlichkeit der Menschen sehr berührt, wie sie uns trotz unserer fehlenden Sprachkenntnisse geholfen haben. Fehlende Informationen konnten über den vorhandenen schnellen Internetzugang problemlos eingeholt werden. Die Lage des Hauses ist nicht nur für Wanderer oder Wintersportler ein idealer Ausgangspunkt, sondern auch für Städtetrips bestens geeignet. In kurzer Zeit waren wir in historisch interessanten Städten, zauberhaften Bergdörfern (z. B. Pedraza) unterwegs und tauchten so in eine Welt voller Geschichte ein. Unsere Ausflüge zum Königspalast San Ildefonso oder in die Städte Segovia, San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Avila, Alcala de Henares bzw in die multikulturelle Stadt Toledo waren einfach nur super. Und nach solchen Tagestouren waren wir froh, in unser nettes Feriendomizil zurückkehren zu können. Im Fazit ist aus unserer Sicht das Haus für motorisierte Touristen und Wanderer, aber auch Erholungssuchende empfehlenswert geeignet.

Great choice

My husband and I just returned from a week -long vacation in La Sierra de Guadarrama, Madrid. We could have stayed in any of the many sierra's small villages but we took our chances and chose El Boalo after seeing pictures of Heinz's Mi Refugio online. We were not disappointed! Mi Refugio is one of the most beautiful and comfortable houses we have rented so far. The house is roomy, tastefully decorated, clean and best of all, quiet and surrounded by nature. We could feel the care and love put into the house's every detail. Heinz has also put together an info brochure about what the area has to offer including services, day trips, hiking trails and more. Everything one needs to know if one didn't have enough time to do some research before hand. We fell in love with the town and its surroundings. If you visit the place, plan a visit to Queseria Artesanal Maliciosa and buy some exquisite artisanal cheese from Maria Jesus. Thank you Heinz for sharing your house with us. This was an unforgettable trip and coming back to your house every evening made it more special. Truly grateful for your hospitality.

Really sweet cottage!

Very much enjoyed our stay in El Boalo! Sweet cottage in a nice neighborhood where you can kick back and relax in the mountains after a day in the city center. Nice drive into the city, about 40 minutes and Heinz was very helpful with questions and other info!

Calm, quiet and away from the bustle of the city

A beautiful home in a small enclave away from the noise of Madrid. Lots of hiking and bike paths nearby. It was a great place to unwind at the end of our whirlwind trip to southern Spain.

Una casa preciosa en un entorno incomparable

La casa nos gustó mucho, es preciosa. Se encuentra en una urbanización rodeada de otros chalets. Nos decepcionó el estado del colchón, muy antiguo, se hundía y las toallas, el estropajo de cocina que normalmente lo ponen nuevo, estaba muy usado, solamente teníamos un rollo de papel higiénico... Cuidando estos aspectos la estancia hubiera sido excelente, sobre todo el tema del colchón.

Mi hijo y yo pasamos tres dias preciosos en este lugar. Esta emplazado en un sitio ideal para todo tipo de excursiones. Es tranquilo y seguro. La atención que recibí por parte del dueño fue exquisita y la información quee dieron sobre el lugar fue de mucha ayuda.

Fantástica estancia

Ha sido una gran experiencia. Un entorno y casa únicos para disfrutar de unos días de desconexión con tu pareja. Muy buen trato por parte de su dueño, nos ha atendido en todo momento. Como único inconveniente destacaría la cama de matrimonio, ya que esta no era del todo confortable.

Genial! Una casa Maravillosa

Lugar encantador, tranquilo y un ambiente relajado.. Perfecto para un fin de semana en pareja y olvidar el estress de la semana. Heinz además ha sido super amable y encantador, cuando llegamos nos tenía el fuego de la chimenea preparado y nos dejo todos los utensilios necesarios para la casa; tiene una carpeta con toda la información necesaria para los alrededores! Repito seguro! Gracias Heinz.

Una casa preciosa con mucho encanto

Llevé a mi novio por sorpresa a esta casa a pasar el fin de semana y no nos podía haber gustado más: su excelente ubicación rodeada de pueblos bonitos y de naturaleza (Manzanares el Real, la Pedriza, el embalse de Santillana, etc), su exterior de casa de cuento, su interior rústico, espacioso y cuidado, su jardín amplio... Todo súper limpio y cómodo. Ideal para desconectar y para los amantes de la montaña. Muy cerca de Madrid también. Gracias por todo Heinz, repetiremos.
