Our Rocky Ranch

Rocky Ranch is in a quaint, beautiful 20 acre property located in the hills above Fallbrook. This massive property includes a beautiful 4,000 sq ft Spanish-style home, vast hills, luscious greenery. Rocky Ranch invites your families and friends to enjoy a serene, relaxed, getaway experience in Temecula Wine Country.

Special events and weddings may be considered depending on timing. Please consult with host on event and party pricing.

Our Rocky Ranch Home consists of 6 main bedrooms (with the possibility of an extra sleeping space in our study if needed), 4 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen (stainless steel appliances, refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave) with granite counter tops, breakfast nook, separate formal dining room with large tables and chairs providing plenty of space for large groups. In addition, there are comfortable seating/lounging areas in our family room and separate living room. Our spacious shaded patio delivers breath taking views of the sweeping valleys and majestic mountains. Enjoy an afternoon barbecue and a drink or two on our outdoor lounging set and take in nature's wonders! You will also have access to wireless internet, cable T.V., and Roku. The property is surrounded by extensive foliage native to Southern California's valleys. Guests will experience the best of both worlds, with total privacy and seclusion from hustle bustle of the city and yet only 15-20 minutes from Temecula's numerous wineries, Old Town Temecula, golf courses, antiquing, and casinos.

Mouse running in the house and mouse pooh on the dining table. Outside is too much junk and couches dirty, cannot sit outside.

WARNING: Please read this carefully before considering this property.

First, when we arrived, the house was not adequately prepared for our visit. Many beds were missing linens and pillows, and no towels were in any of the bathrooms. We located a closet where most items were shoved on shelves/ not folded so the cleanliness of each was unclear. Furthermore, the pillows were dirty yet we had no choice but to use them. Second, the dishes/glasses in the kitchen needed to be cleaned and the pots/pans had peeling surfaces and burnt food that hadn’t been cleaned well. Also, the drawer of utensils appeared to contain insect scat. In addition, on the day we ARRIVED we received a message from the host stating that there were long-term renters during Covid and the “oven does seem to work but there is a small countertop oven.” This was an understatement as the regular oven was missing a knob, so it was not usable at all and the “countertop oven” that was referenced was just a toaster oven. As a result of this last minute misinformation, we had to completely alter the family dinner plans we had scheduled for 20 people because a toaster oven was a ludicrous alternative. We were in town for a family wedding and the broken oven disrupted our schedule. Next, the house contained many broken items (towel racks, toilet paper holders & blinds) and light fixtures that were missing bulbs/globes. Broken patio furniture was tossed off to the side in the back and the overall patio, including the grill, had seen better days. Additionally, in the side yard under a bedroom window were 6 large trash bags, including one that had apparently been ripped open by animals and trash was scattered around. A little further past the side yard was a boarded-up trailer and more trash. Finally, the house had an issue with ants and mice droppings in some of the rooms and the A/C on one side of the house stopped working the second day into our 5-day rental. Lastly, we attempted to work out a resolution with the host by contacting her on the second day. She said she was going to refund half our money and send someone to the house to investigate our complaints, but she did not. She ignored all of our attempts to contact her and also made false claims through VRBO to extort the $200 damage fee. We have pictures that support our complaints and pictures/video that dispute her untruths. Never have we ever encountered anyone as unethical and who displayed such disgraceful behaviors toward their guests as this host.

Secluded and Spacious

This property served our purposes very well. We had a large group and there were sufficient beds and bathrooms to keep everyone comfortable. The views and sunsets from the property left a great impression. For what we recieved, I think the price was fair and fitting. The only strike against it was that the Jacuzzi tub in the (enormous and nice) master suite was not working and we were not told that ahead of time. That tub is a sweet selling point so it would have been nice to inform guests ahed of time. That being said, everything else was functional, spacious, and comfortable. The owner/property manager was responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Dirt/mud road, dangerous property, beware!!!

At some point this was probably a nice property. Unfortunately, it was a long time ago!! There was no mention of the house being off a dirt road (which was mud during our stay this winter) and neglect has made it a dangerous and treacherous place to stay. There is an abandoned and boarded up single-wide trailer right next to the house as well as a caretaker structure with the roof falling off that you must drive past. One of our guests got stuck in the mud trying to drive the dirt road leading to the house...with limited cell phone coverage. One of the bathrooms and the laundry room were dirty so we contacted the owner who promised to send someone to clean...they never showed up. There was a gas leak from the dryer which someone had noticed (housekeeper?) who then shut off the gas to it. The house smelled like there was a gas leak when we first arrived. It was eventually fixed but it took a few days and we were unable to use the dryer until it was done. The outside property is unkempt and dangerous. The trashcans were 100% full (no response) and we had nowhere to put our trash so we had to store it in the garage because there were large dogs roaming loose on the property and we did not want it all over the driveway and yard. We have been renting properties on VRBO for probably 15+ years and this was the worst property we had the displeasure to rent. There were no pots or pans in the kitchen that you would want to use. There were no cleaning supplies or trash bags. We needed to buy everything. The contact with the owner/manger was terrible. I had to keep contacting them for all these issues and there was no response or cryptic messages most of the time. I needed to fix the shower doors in the master bath because they were off the track; the shower floor grout is crumbling so while taking a shower you would be stepping on small sand and rock pieces. I had to go outside in the rain and relight the water heater because their repair person only re-lit one of the two after he repaired the dryer gas leak. We were without hot water in half of the house for a day until I figured it out on my own. Calling again for it to be fixed would have been a waste of time. The repair person lived over an hour away. We finally asked the owner/manager if they would at least return our cleaning fee due to all the issues we had. She tried blaming us for some of her issues. DO NOT RENT THIS HOUSE unless you like bringing EVERYTHING from home or roughing it!!

Wonderful family vacation spot

Wonderful vacation spot. Perfect for relaxation and family gatherings. House had lots of space for hanging out together, but also had many spaces for privacy or quiet moments too. My only complaint, we didn’t stay long enough.

I received one email 2 days before the trip saying I would receive a call...never received a call. Ended up texting back and forth a bit. Received the lockbox number the morning of and a text about the grass not being mowed. After that...absolutely NO COMMUNICATION whatsoever. Arrived at the house and by the looks of the yard, grounds, driveway, outbuildings you would have thought the house had been abandoned for years! Looked for the lockbox for 40 minutes!! Called, left voicemails, sent texts...NO RESPONSE. Finally found the lockbox in the most ridiculous place ever...and NEVER did get a call or text back. Really hope the owner/manager is okay, because it was like she fell off the face of the earth. This property is nice enough on the inside, quite a few repairs are needed for it to be in top shape. The outside is a whole other story. Wish I could post the pictures I took...seriously looks like the property has been abandoned for YEARS! You would probably do well to spend your money elsewhere. Also, it is on a pretty rough one-way dirt road...which for some might be a turn off, but we found it adventurous. For the price you pay though, both the inside and outside should be kept up and the owner/manager should be reachable during your stay.

Very nice property & house which accomodated our family.

This property was easy to find & worked out great for our family Christmas. There were a few problems that came up but the manager replied back quickly. The layout of the house was great & the outdoor area was nice, too. We found a few Farmer's markets close by & the major grocery stores were within 30 minutes. Easy access from the highway.

Great spot for a group!

We really enjoyed our time there. It was a getaway from the city, real country experience. Our kids LOVED interacting with the animals and the caretaker was super friendly. The actual property was very nice and clean. Bathrooms and kitchen were great! The seven bedrooms were perfect for our large group. Interaction with the property owner was wonderful. She was very responsive. Only reason I give it a four star instead of five is because the surrounding grounds need some tiding up, especially near the caretaker/animal area. Our group did some hiking and running and had an amazing time! Sunsets were breathtaking. We would stay here again.

Dirty and scary

This home was not what we expected at all. Our first encounter was of a pig running out of an abandoned trailer that is about 10 feet away from the home. Next a pit bull came to greet us. Once we got into the house it was okay but very dirty. There was old dental floss on the bathroom floor, dirt all over the floor throughout the house, a massive spider web in the master bedroom bed frame. The sheets smelled like febreeze instead of clean laundry. I slept fully clothed because I was just so grossed out. I also wiped down the kitchen counters and the paper towel was black when I looked at it. For the amount paid this house should be clean on the inside. I complained to the owner and got a “sorry you feel that way,” and “we have had all good reviews.” But I did not see any reviews on the home. I would not recommend staying here.
