Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well enough. Follow these handy tips and tricks that will help get your Mala escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be easy if you pack the right gear. Firstly, you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and lip balm, a clean set of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, find room in your hand luggage for your laptop, a charger, medications and perhaps a neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, don't forget to bring your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your trusty Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and strong acids, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- You'll want to go for comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes in the cabin by dressing in layers, and wear flat, easy-to-remove shoes like sneakers.
- Most travellers have heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of sitting. To reduce your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression socks or tights and move your lower limbs often.
