No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well organised. We've put together a list of handy travel tips that will get your Plan-de-la-Tour escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a comfortable experience if you pack the right things. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean pair of socks and a good book. Secondly, find room in your carry-on bag for your mobile phone, a charger, any vital medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel docs and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between air carriers, the general rule to follow is avoid carrying anything sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like box cutters, razor blades, spray paint and flares. Sports equipment like baseball bats, and objects that could injure passengers, such as swords and batons, are also banned from the cabin.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim is to feel as comfortable as possible. Go for a pair of flat, closed-toe shoes, dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to take a sweater in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- The result of sustained periods of immobility, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect some passengers on long-distance flights. Reduce the risks by staying hydrated, keeping your feet and legs moving and wearing compression socks or tights.
