wonderful charming house in the mountains of tuscany
The property is perfect for enjoying the Tuscan summer in absolute privacy. The rooms are equipped with everything you might need, the pool is clean and the rest of the house as well. We would love to spend another vacation there, it’s absolutely dreamy. Thanks to Hennie for helping us out with everything we needed advice with and thanks to the owner for replying quickly. It was a pleasure. All the best, Lilly
The property was fantastic with the most amazing views from all sides of the house. The front porch with the comfy rattan seating was especially nice in the evenings, having something to eat and drink with the best panoramic view ever, and watching the sunset.
Amazing house with a great view over the hilly Tuscany landscape.
The house was clean and typical to Italy. The pool was great when spending a day in the sun.
Plenty of outdoor seatings and fantastic support from the host.
Beautiful old farmhouse that has been lovingly restored to a very high standard, and filled with lovely furniture and artwork. Several seating areas outside and a veranda where you can sit and look out over the fabulous view of the valley and mountains beyond. Thanks very much to Hennie, our host, for being on hand to help with arrival and departure and any questions we had. We would highly recommend the villa.
The home is a beautiful Italian villa. It is extremely well equipped with everything one needs. The accomodations are very comfortable and spacious. The kitchen is large and fully equipped for everything you will need. The pool area is amazing but the water is a little cool. Amazing views from the home in every corner of the property. Only difficult part is the drive up the mountain to the house and the steep driveway. After a few trips, the drive becomes easier. Great communication with the owner and the neighbor was extremely helpful and informative. We would love to come back and miss be there already.
I loved the house, a clasical italian one. Stunning view over the hills and valey. We loved to sit on the terrace. Due to many stairs, large pool and some wasps around I’d rather advise it for families with bigger kids (our were 6 and 9). You need to be prepared for ants, wasps, mosquitos and some scorpions, but it’s due to beautifull nature all around. No houses in direct neighbourhood. You will quickly get used to the narrow winding road, but be carefull because the locals drive bravely. Castelnuovo is about 15 min by car, there one can do shoping, eat gelato and have a nice walk. The local host, Hennie, is very nice and helpful. You can make an appointment with her in advance for a delicious meal.
Down the road there is a good pizzeria. For pizza we also advise Pizzeria l'isola di Coppola in Castelnuovo. Some good local food and steaks you will find in Osteria al Ritrovo del Platano.
We had a wonderfully pleasant stay at this house. Nothing was missing: in the kitchen, we found everything we needed for our cooking, and there was plenty of room. The scenery was just as, if not more, impressive. From the backyard and the poolside we could look out across the Tuscan mountains, a sight that felt all the more dreamlike from the terrace attached to the house. Here, we spent many afternoons and evenings relaxing and playing board games together.
We would recommend this house to those looking for both a serene and undisturbed stay and the possibility of visiting some of the Tuscan villages and cities. Although the mountain roads can be intimidating, the drive to cities like Castelnuovo di Garfagnana is short. We were also able to see Pistoia, a city close to Florence, which was around an hour and a half away, as well as the Grotta del Vento. Even when we simply needed a short walk, we were able to experience the Tuscan lifestyle through the nearby villages of Treppignana and Riana. However, if you want to visit Florence itself, you will have to be prepared for a 2-hour journey. As a group who had already visited Florence, however, we found plenty to see in nearby cities. It's also worth mentioning that, even though we have an electric car, we were able to find charging stations near larger supermarkets, although it was not as easy as in Germany.
Overall, our vacation was amazing, and we would like to thank the owners of the house for letting us stay there.
We loved the location, the house, the pool and the views. After a week, we felt as if we really lived in Treppignana. We were able to do laundry and used the dishwasher sometimes. Very well appointed.
We stayed for 1 week as family with 3 kids (8-14) and really enjoyed it. The house and the pool are fantastic. The location is very secluded and quiet, perfect to relax, offering a scenic view across the valley. We were also very well taken care of by the local administrators of the house who run a nice B&B close by.
Whats a fantastic Vaction. Our host was exceptionally welcoming & made us feel instantly at home. The accommodation is better than the pictures. Fantastic location, 8mins drive to fantastic pizzeria, 15min to large supermarket, the list is endless. The views are breathtaking, we must have 1000 pictures. We will definitely be rebooking next year.
Amazing views, better than the pictures but the drive way to the house is rough, up in the mountains. The house is kind of clean for its age. I wouldn’t give it more than 3 stars. We found few scorpions and forest bugs. The swimming pool is great but I am not sure it is filtered. Someone would need to come and clean it every day.

A wonderful property in a beautiful area.
The property is very comfortable and well equipped. The pool is a good size enabling one to have proper exercise. The area is very attractive and sparsely populated but there are good restaurants not too far away. In short, an ideal place in which to holiday.
La Capanna is the most beautiful villa with wonderful grounds and pool area. The living accommodation is immaculate and well equipped. We had our children ranging from 12-22 with us who loved the pool and wondering into Riana for bread and cheese. Plenty of fun things to do in the surrounding area as well. I recommend canyoning with Toscana Canyon adventures if you have older children. Hennie was there to meet us and on hand for anything we needed. We chose to eat at the villa each night and could have BBQS or cook in the kitchen. The terrace had lovely evening sun for drinks and games as well. What a great place we would love to return

Unfortunately 2 days of swimming pool time lost due to lack of pool care.
Great house for vacation when you like the quite and peaceful surroundings of the Tuscany mountains. Great bedrooms with doors to the garden and the pool.
Enough space for 6 adults. We were with 4 adults.
Everything you need is available. Maybe a few more towels would be nice. Overall a great stay.

Stunning
We stayed for two weeks at the end of August, 2018.
We were looked after by the property manager, Geran, who was incredibly helpful, and guided us on where to go and what to see. Our stay would not have been nearly as good without her help, so thank you!
As for the owners, very approachable and helpful. Response times to emails very quick.
The villa is situated in the hills overlooking Gallicano and the mountains on the other side of the valley.
The view is incredible.
The villa itself is a spacious 3 bedroomed converted stone built barn that is very nicely appointed. Has everything you need and very comfortable,
Being stone meant that despite the hot weather, up to high 30s, the building itself stays pretty cool. This is useful as there is no air con, but it really isn’t needed and there are fans if some coolng really is required.
The pool is large enough, and although solar heated, pretty warm when we went. Had more trouble keeping the kids out of the pool than anything else. They loved it.
We spend quite a lot of our time seeing Florence, Pisa, Lucca and Barga. All beautiful and worth visiting. For this, we hired a car, and this is essential, but it’s worth mentioning that the mountain roads are narrow and winding, so you want to be confident and comfortable driving in Europe,
I would love to see this place in winter as ski fields are quite close, but the drive to the villa might be interesting!
For the mundane side of things, there is a big supermarket close by for day to day stuff, and plenty of options further afield.
