Owner canceled 2 hours before our check in
I rented this unit for the dates of April 5-8. I paid in full and entered into a binding contract. Additionally, I wrote the owner more than once about the check in process. At no time did the owner write back that the unit might not be available on our dates.
Two hours before our check in on April 5, the owner cancelled the reservation claiming that the "property is unavailable."
This is what I believe really happened: the owner rented the property at a higher price to another party who, like us, traveled to see the total solar eclipse on April 8 in Dallas.
The owner committed fraud. There is no place for this in the VRBO market place. We appreciate the refund from VRBO but it should be noted that last minute accommodations cost us double the refunded amount.
