  • The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone offers different dramatic looks and moods dependent on the time of day. The falls are luminous in the morning. In the evening when this photo was taken, the canyon takes on a soft, almost painterly light. If you can, make a visit right after sunrise and return for the sunset.

  • We visited this location but ideally needed to be there in the afternoon as the sun was on the "wrong" side of the arch. I used a wide lens to capture the arch and didn't attempt to correct the distortion as I felt it added to the picture (for me anyway). It took a long time to get this without hoardes of people in the shot.

The property, IMO, does not have to be unique, it just have to be comfortable and have amenities that make the trip a pleasure. The cozy loft in Gardiner definitely fit the bill and the host, Alex, was great. I highly recommend this property.

Family vacation

easy to find, just what we needed for a couple nights! Gardiner is a great little town by entrance to Yellowstone! The owner was easy to work with. We had 4 in our family so brought a cot along but my daughter used couch instead. Beds were very comfortable and clean! Thank you!
