  • This will ever be known as the chateau of Josephine Baker. She had been a singer of international renown with an extraordinary career. Born in the States in 1906, she emigrated to France and became a citizen in 1937 when she married a Jew, but not before knowing the street life in America where she’d had to sleep in cardboard shelters and scavenge in garbage bins. For ten years she was the lead in the Folies Bergeres, and admired by all who saw her. Van ons terras hadden we een prachtig uitzicht over een groot veld en het landschap. Huisjes redelijk compleet ingericht, geen onnodige ruimte gebruik voor een tv. De keuken was helaas wat aan de kleine kant. Er heerst een gemoedelijke sfeer, even wennen als je uit de stad komt materialen zijn op de sportplekken aanwezig, je kan broodjes bestellen en die zelf uit de zak halen in de ochtend (dit laatste gaat helaas niet altijd goed als je de laatste bent en één van de voorgangers wat te inhalig is). Een smetje was het afscheid. Na een grondige controle van ons huisje kwam de inspectrice tot de conclusie dat er geen slopen meer om de kussens zaten die er volgens haar wel degelijk hadden gezeten. Dat zou in rekening gebracht worden. De aanwezige kussens hadden wij niet gebruikt. Jammer de gastvrijheid ophield net voor de uitgang.

Bij aankomst bleek het huisje niet schoon te zijn. Dit is erg vervelend dat je na een lange reis zelf eerst kan gaan schoonmaken. Verder was onze vakantie prima in de omgeving. Mooie groene omgeving waar veel cultuur is te zien.
