“This is the second time we have stayed here, in two months. Once again, we cannot praise the whole experience any higher than absolutely excellent. The location for all amenities, the staff for their help in making our stay wonderful. The hotel itself, including the rooms, are to the highest standard and cleanliness. The food is also excellent, lovely choice of breakfasts.”

“Really good location for the town. You can park on the garden street car park, you pay 8-8 and free over night. The accommodation is lovely, it’s clean and has everything you need. Breakfast was really nice and fresh. Would def return. The restaurant next door, is 15% off with your hotel door key. The burgers are to die for!”

“Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent, fresh fruit, cereals, and a hot cooked breakfast. The only negative, we had to pay for parking, we booked on Expedia and it was advertised as parking available, no mention of having to pay. We will use this hotel again but will book directly through the hotel website. ( cheaper too )”

“FOUND HOTEL TO BE QUAINT & A PLEASANT, UNIQUE PLACE TO STAY. VERY COMFORTABLE ROOM WITH GOOD FACILITIES. DID NOT NEED TO INTERACT WITH STAFF.”

“The hostel is clean, well kept and the gentleman that greeted us was friendly and helpful. My only complaint is about the mattress on my bed. I could feel every spring and coil. Time to replace it!”

“Moved from the bull to the shepherds rest as an upgrade prior to arrival. Out of 4 rooms (party of 4), rooms 10 and room 4 no heating. The bull may have better but I’d avoid the shepherds rest. Also none of the TVs worked in any of the 4 rooms and Wi-Fi password not shared. A shame as the rooms were fine even if the showers are a little small. Place was clean and obviously has been invested in. ”

“All staff were very helpful, We had two beautiful breakfasts, We also ate outside on the patio, The food was outstanding, breathtaking views. We will definitely be back 100%”

“Spend 1 night here. Smallish room with a double bed. For me, the rooms are not sound proof. When someone next door was in the bathrooms, you could hear the water running/shower/sink. Also doors banged loudly. Cleanliness not 100%. The remote control was dirty, looks like it is never cleaned with a hygiene wipe. Same as the light switches, you could see all the grime from dirty hands. I sent a couple of messages to the hotel direct through Expedia and they never replied. I……

“The bathroom lock door is non-existent and broken. There are some stains on the carpet. Quite disappointing that there is no mini fridge in the room. ”

“It was a cosy cabin with everything we wanted, views of woodland on the other side across the path was the canal, plenty of bars & restaurants to choose from in Marsden.”

“Absolutely charming! The owner and staff outdid themselves with welcoming us later in the evening and making sure to seat us in the quite lovely dining room for a hot meal before retiring to our spacious guest room upstairs. The room was today and had lots of thoughtful amenities: tea, coffee, a variety of snacks, lots of toiletries. Breakfast was very good and served with warmth and hospitality. Definitely a wonderful place to stay. ”

“We regularly stay at this hotel when visiting Huddersfield. It is our favourite hotel in the area . The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Our room is always beautifully clean. The served hot breakfast is fantastic and freshly cooked as opposed to a buffet style. The hotel has a warm and friendly feel and we highly recommend it. A big thank you to all members of staff - you are what makes this hotel so special.”
