We were instantly upgraded due to a leak caused by storm Amy in our room. The staff were so good and nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast was wonderful, we had the full Scottish breakfast and enjoyed a lovely meal and cocktails in one of two bars.
Can’t fault this place! I’d go back for sure!
Room was clean and small but adequate. Reception very polite and helpfull. Breakfast poor only 3rd days breakfast much better.
Bar seemed nice enough but busy had a meal in the breakfast room. Housekeeping could be improved
Had a lovely stay. Everywhere has had a facelift and looks fantastic. Rooms are lovely and comfortable and staff can do enough. Parking is great a total little gem of a placez
It’s a charming older hotel with a lot of character. Rooms are quiet, clean & tidy. Stayed for a week & was extremely comfortable. Used their restaurant for all the breakfasts and sometimes their lunch or dinner menu’s too. There were a variety of options on the menu, good value and very satisfying.
Rooms good although with no control over heating i could find and see. came on late at night.
Good location nit too far from centre and lovely views across to the bay.
Standard greene king food good quality and options
I would use again and good value
Staff helpful and friendly. No room available on arrival as Expedia had not contacted hotel. Not impressed with toenail clipping found on carpet which had not been hoovered. However was dealt with quickly by staff.
Nice hotel and bar with a friendly atmosphere.
Good value for money.
Large parking area.
With single glass windows and no heater the bathroom was a bit cold.
Not a big problem though.
Will stay again when in Helensburgh

Liked: Staff & service, room comfort
Average
Super comfy bed, good sized room & bathroom. Bathroom had quite a strange odour & the floor could do with a better clean. Two showers in the bathroom both of which did not have hot water, quite cold.
Friendly staff and lovely clean fresh room. We didn’t eat there but the food looked good.
Only issue was check in and out. Had to ring the reception bell multiple times then go to bar and ask for help. If you fix this issue it will be a perfect place to stay. Would definitely go back
Have just had a wonderful 2 night stay. The outside is magnificent, but at night it has such a magical feel to it. We had dinner both nights in the bar area and it was idyllic and had a cosy feel to it. The fireplace was one of my favourite things, I have a great love of old decor and I adored the mix of old and new decor. The portions were incredible generous and would definitely recommend the burgers!. It’s been beautiful renovated throughout and I loved the country cottage style decor feel of our room. I think it’s a wonderful touch that all the rooms are named after paddle steamers and boats. The staff were all so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The views are incredible too, both during the day and the twinkling lights at night.
The staff were really friendly and helpful, we arrived early and were allowed to drop our suitcase at reception whilst we went into town. We were also allowed to do an early check in which was really great. The bed was super comfortable, I did have to ask for extra pillows and toilet roll but this was provided promptly. The only let down was the shower, which was awfully low pressure and basically just a dribble. This was very disappointing. There were also no surfaces or shelves to put our toiletries, toothbrushes etc in the bathroom. Breakfast was nice, with a good selection to choose from. The location was great for us and overall we would stay again, however I would ask for a different room next time due to the rubbish shower.
The stay as a whole was very pleasant. The room, clean, the decor, very nice. My only 'gripe', is that the water pressure for the shower was terrible. I felt I had to run around in the shower to get wet. It was little more than a dribble and I felt I had to stand with my nose against the wall to get under the water. I took ages to have a wash!

Okay hotel
We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in 2 rooms as a family. We had to ask for coffee and milk refills every day as these were not brought to our room by housekeeping. Also had to ask for toilet paper on one occasion. Was surprised breakfast wasn’t included for the price. Saturday night was very noisy due to a function downstairs. That said, staff were friendly and helpful when we asked for anything. Might have been a more pleasant stay had we been able to use the outside area but wet weather kept us indoors and didn’t find the pub or restaurant especially hospitable. I would recommend for a stop over but not for a long stay.
The place was great… totally felt like I was in an Agatha Christie novel… great vegan options too… my room was cute and clean… only complaint was the obvious damage of something previous on the ceiling so it felt a little less special.
