Interesting approach for a hostel

This place is actually quite amazing for a hostel. It's like a cross between a hotel and a hostel. It is well-organized and very clean The place does feel a bit institutional but it is still a very good place to stay as hostels go. It is a bit pricy but, from what I can tell, that seems to be more a factor of the accommodations industry in Helsinki overall - every place I saw was more expensive.

The location is nice, on a 15min walking distance from the airport. The check-in went well, I got all the required information by SMS on my phone. So far the good part, the bad part is that the building is old, the room I had was very noisy, and looked nothing like the pictures on the website. The bed linen were dirty, the bed itself was old and it felt like you were sleeping in a 'hole' in the bed. The floor was sticky, the remote of the TV was véry filthy, basically I was looking forward checking out again. Luckily I only stayed for one night. Unfortunately this was the only place that had vacancy on my night on stay and the next cheapest place charged almost 4-5 times as much for a night... If you are in for just one night, perhaps stay at the airport or find a hotel in the city. I would not recommend this hostel.

3rd stay at Forenom Hostel Vantaa Airport. It is a very good hostel. Yes the single room is small but the room and bedding were clean, as were the showers and toilets. It’s a 10 minute walk from the airport. Well lit main roads so felt safe walking from my late night arrival and back to my early morning departure. Key code arrived before checkin time via email and text. Entry keypad for building has been moved from the side wall to the centre of the front door so can’t miss it now. For the price I paid, this is value for money accommodation and I’ll stay here again.

This was a typical hostel with simple single rooms with basic amenities. The sheets were crisp and clean and the duvet and blanket was very comfortable. It's a very short walk from the airport and you can take the luggage cart all the way there on pedestrian paths, which are everywhere. I couldn't get the water hot in shower but everything was very clean. It's a great place to day trip out of to downtown Helsinki by the train or the bike share- there are actually bike/walking trails all the way! I ran to downtown and it was about 18 km and there were no places I felt unsafe. I took the train back later at night and it was well lit and safe. There aren't common areas to hang out and the rooms are tiny so its not a place to hang out or meet people. The kitchen isn't really large enough to cook in but you could make due in a pinch. T

No key code received to enter the hostel and room.

The big problem was I did not get the access key code to enter the building and my room. It was not clear if Hotels.com or Forenom Hostel was responsible to send me the key. I had to call to get a key, and it eventually came from Hotels.com. PLEASE do better with this problem, and solve it.

Unhelpful customer service

Was promised an email containing instructions on how to access my room by 1600 on arrival day. I did not get this email even after 1700 on arrival day. I had to resubmit identity verification through an older email and then was given access, even though I'd already completed that verification.
