To stay in Highlands for mountain views, this is the place. Its a 9 minute drive to downtown . Ubers are scarce. The Hotel is retro and in great shape, rooms are large and nice. Staff, very nice and helpful. The only downside, the bar is not good with poor service. The restaurant is average and expensive so you need to go to town . They are missing out on revenue with better restaurant.
and bar.
Beautiful, quiet, very charming, friendly staff. Will definitely come back.

We didn’t have TV, first weekend of college Football. No reservations for dinner or brunch a week out!
The view off deck great , mingle area wonderful
The two front desk ladies were amazing!
Staff was great. The restaurant is very nice but there is not a breakfast option during the week. They do have a few things you can grab in the check in area. Our room was missing soap and the bathroom was small but overall updated and very nice. The building is very old so a lot of steps, not very ADA friendly. Beautiful area.
Very remote and quiet. Had nice area with fire pits. The Oak Steakhouse was good but very expensive. If you want a view stay on granite side. The ridge top side does not have a view. There were both a dehumidifier and another air purifier. Room was a bit damp.

Our room was ok, but directly next to ice machine. Accommodations were good but no small fridge in the room for us to keep a few things we bought in town, cold.

Overall it was a good trip. The restaurant and bar were stellar. The room was attractive and the heated floors in the bathroom were a nice touch. Now for the complaint part. The masonry wall in the room had moisture seeping in along with numerous mushrooms growing at the carpet edge that was up against the masonry. The carpet was wet along this border as well as the sheetrock wall where is butted up to the masonry. The same was the case just outside the room on the opposite side of the wall. There were also numerous spiders and webs in both places. Not what one migh expect in a $300.00 plus a night room.
Lodge was cozy and lodge staff was friendly. Oak Steakhouse (on property restaurant) was tasty, but one of the bartenders was kinda crappy. We were ignored for several minutes standing at the bar, and finally another bartender asked this one to help us. He didn’t seem to want to but did begrudgingly. Well, he completely screwed up our to go order so in hindsight he completely ignored everything I said. Sad, really, that this one moment left the impression it did. Cause everything and everyone else was delightful! Heated bathroom floors!?!
First Patty at check in was beyond sweet and she was so welcoming. Really wonderful employee. There were small things that were lacking like no hand soap and the shower gel was almost empty so really no soap to speak of. Also they have this cute card talking about making yourself an afternoon cup of trees but no tea. And then we returned around 8:45 and ran out to go to our car to grab surfing and left our key in the room. I called the emergency number passed at reception since no one was left at reception and the man that answered the phone literally answered it Hello. That’s it i thought i had the wrong number. Then i said i locked myself out of my room and he said well I'm an hour away so let me see if anyone at the restaurant can let you in and hung up on me. It was so odd. It left a bad taste in my mouth so even though I’m giving the place 4 stars and it does have a beautiful setting i will never stay there again
Do not get lower level rooms, as if you are in lower level rooms you will hear every single walking movements in the room above. We had big foot on two nights…got very limited sleep.
We would visit again, but would require only a top floor room.
The restaurant is TOP notch and the shining star of the Inn. All was wonderful here! 5 star food!
No refrigerators in rooms…until the last day, we saw one being delivered to another room. Was not offered at check in.
Brunch was available on Saturday and Sunday, but was not conveyed to us…or on the website. We were told Saturday morning at the office when we were trying to figure out what to eat for breakfast.
We went for my birthday and when we checked in the gave me a free bottle of wine. When we got to our room there bugs everywhere. We live in the woods back home and understand bugs will just find their way inside but there were bugs in the bed, the living room and worst of all in the bathroom. They were all over the sink/counter top, the shower and the floor. We called the desk and they sent someone to clean it and get us new sheets but we never got an “I’m sorry” and the cleaning lady never even told us she was done. She just walked out and left the door open. It also looked like someone had dumped some kind of blue cleaner on the tile in the shower and it stained it. The restaurant on site is absolutely delicious and the wait staff was the best we’ve ever had in a restaurant! We had a great dinner and experience and went back for breakfast the next morning and again were blown away by the service.
The Skyline Lodge is an older property that is on top of a ridge a couple of miles outside of Highlands. The property is quite beautiful It was extensively renovated and updated a couple of years ago. Our room was large and nicely decorated. the bathroom was a bit small but fine. The restaurant is very good. It is a little pricey, but consistent with other good restaurants in Highlands. The bar is small but OK. The bartender and servers are great. There are some nits. This property is noisy, which is surprising since it is by itself. It's almost like the contractor missed insulating the property properly during the extensive renovation. There are complementary ear plugs in the room, which is never a good sign. Breakfast is available at the restaurant (and it is quite good) only on Saturday and Sunday. That is really inconvenient since the hotel is not close to other options. A mini-fridge and a microwave in the room would have mitigated this, but were not provided.

The room was fine. Staff was really nice. I'd say probably not worth the price. It's a redone property and decent at that. I appreciated the heated bathroom floors and the way the team rectified some of the issues.
I didn't like that you could literally hear EVERYTHING from all over because walls and floors were so thin it was wild. I didn't like that they also didn't have a breakfast or lunch option. Like if it's raining, you still have to leave the property in order to eat or just be stuck in your room.
I wish it had a hot tub at least. idk probably wouldn't book again even at a lower rate.
My wife and I had an amazing stay at The Skyline Lodge. The staff was incredibly friendly & helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall environment offered so much time for genuine bonding and adventure. From the time we got there, the receptionist, Arri, went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home and were taken care of. This will be our go to spot anytime we go to The Highlands.
