"I think very few gaijin go this far out. Some of the communication was difficult but the staff tried really hard and we enjoyed the stay
Hard to navigate getting to and from major stations and it snowed one day at end of March
Overall Iโm glad we did it for the experience to be immersed in Japanese culture.

"Everything about the accommodation was excellent, especially the staff! Despite the communication struggles, they were very helpful and provided great service during my stay. The free shuttle service to the ski resort was also extremely useful as they would drive you to your desired resort and pick you up at your specified time.
Without a car, there is limited access to any surrounding towns. There is a bus but itโs relatively infrequent. However, staying in is also great due to the 24 hour...

"The food, atmosphere, and super friendly staff definitely make this place to return to. Staff was always friendly and very, very accommodating even with our limited Japanese vocabulary. Definitely the highlight of our trip for sure!"

"The room was spotless and the staff , and especially a young woman there (Shirona?); was especially helpful. The area the hotel is situated in is awesome and next to public transportation. The onset was nice too! Thank you! "

"The hotel itself is very clean, updated, comfortable. The room we had was on the traditional side and was spacious with a separate bedroom with balcony with river view.
Buffet dinner was delicious. Hot tubs is clean and amenities including shower head were great. Recommend to stay just one night. Because the โKinugawaโ itself is a small town and surrounded by abandoned buildings, not much to do.
The check in staff didnโt let me know you needed reservation for the return taxi. I planned to grab a taxi to the train station at the check out but then, the staff told me without taxi reservation or shuttle reservation, waiting time for a taxi is around one hour. We ended up walked to the train station but missed the train and spent 5 hours waiting for the next train.
I think the hotel staff should have let me know the reservation when I checked in as they knew we took a taxi to get to the hotel at check in.
Lack of taxi service is understandable due to the size of town, so make sure to ask about the taxi or shuttle for your return!!!
The check in staff was impersonal. The hotel seems to cater to a large group of people so if you are looking for more of traditional type of Japanese hotel service, look other hotels. But over all great hotel experience. "
"Room little dated but extremely spacious, and very clean. Only comment is lack of USB port. Buffet was adequate but missing the โwowโ factor. Property was little far from train station, I think it would be much convenient if the shuttle will bring guess back to hotel instead of just one way to the train station."
"The room was absolutely beautiful, the private bath was so lovely in the cold night air. The staff were all so friendly and attentive, it really felt like they had thought of everything! We would definitely stay here again
The only downside is that when arriving, the driveway/road up to the hotel is completely gravel so it was very hard to get our suitcase to the hotel. We ended up getting a taxi back to the train station at the end of our stay and that was much easier. Strongly recommend not walking to the hotel from the train station if you have a big suitcase like we did"
"Amazing experience! Onsen, rooms and allover environment was superb. The meals served were carefully prepared with an exquisite presentation.
Staff is very kind and helpful. Theyโll shuttle you to and from Nikko station to the Ryokan as well as guide you to the bus that takes you to Keyon. falls.
In addition, the Ryokan plays calming music in the hallways and reception area. Gift shop is adorable and they add a special touch to putting your name on a plaque visible at the entry way into the Ryokan. We will miss this facility and hope to return again. "
"This was my 3rd time staying here, great location a few min walk from the train and bus terminal, warm comfortable rooms, friendly helpful staff, it's a shame they changed the breakfast service, the curry and rice were excellent before... I'd definitely recommend eating at yuba komachi while in Nikko, delicious chicken cutlet curry, very good price and lovely staff, 2 min walk from the hotel "
