The condo is in a good location, with a great view. The beach is a little bit small and the waves were pretty rough, but with close supervision we managed to have a good time with our two little kids. You might get bored with anyone looking for a real beach who is over 6 years old. But we did see sea turtles everyday who came to rest on this tiny and fairly private beach, so that was neat. The condo itself is a nice layout, and our kids loved the pullout beds. It has great potential. However, the place was in SERIOUS need of a deep clean and minor renovations. The bathroom floors and tubs were freaking nasty!! You wouldn’t believe the brown/orange grime all around the toilets and baseboards, and the tubs had nasty caulk and just need to be retiled so badly. The bathroom faucets were also caked with mineral buildup so badly that they sprayed the mirrors anytime you used them. The rest of the condo was fine and sufficiently clean, but the bathrooms were just unacceptable for the amount of money we paid to stay there. The balcony furniture was also uncomfortable. So as far as location, I’d give it 4 stars. As far as cleanliness, 2 stars. This is why I’m averaging my review at 3 stars. I wouldn’t go back.

The great things: view, location to activities, cleanliness, responsiveness from hosts, cooking equipment/utensils, pool/hot tub area, beach accessories.Not so great things: road noise from the second bedroom that overlooks the parking lot: constant nightly and incredibly loud at times, lots of local looking cars blasting music and revving motorcycles way too loud. Patio chairs don’t match advertisement picture, and are unstable, 1 is broken. 1 of the beach chairs is broken. Only 2 kitchen towels in the whole place, for people who cook a lot and are there for several days, this was annoying. There was only 1 standard size coffee cup in the whole place. The rest were small teacup size. There is very little “private beach” as advertised and pictured, and the waves are not safe for kids. Grassy area is large, but has quite the rocky drop off to the small amount of beach below, with no fence. Not great for small children to be able to run around. I ultimately had picked this place for the “private beach.” Condo is quite a bit smaller than pictures make it seem, no square footage listed on ad. Lastly I had reached out to the host asking if they have a pack n play to which they told me no. I spent 100 on a pack n play rental only to get to the condo and find 2 pack n plays in the closets. Overall the condo was good and I was happy to be in Hawaii. But there were a few quirks about the place that I unfortunately feel made it not quite worth the amount of money paid.

Wonderful location, beautiful views

Our family of 5, including two very young children, stayed here for a week. The grounds were beautiful and we saw sea turtles in the water and on the beach daily. The location is close to stores and other beaches. One thing to be aware of - this property is very quiet and they do their best to keep it that way. Given the turtles and year round residents, it is understandable. Be aware if you have loud children, this may not be the location for you. No games are allowed in the pool and the sign at pool area for forbids “boisterous conduct.” Reserved children would do well here.

Fantastic location, great value!

We had a fantastic time at this location; while the actual accommodations aren't exactly the Ritz Carlton, they are more than sufficient, and this place has a view of the ocean and the beach that no Ritz Carlton *I* know of can match - and for the price, there likely are very few locations that are better. We'd absolutely stay here again, without question.

Can’t expect a better experience

Imagine you can see a sea turtle lying on the beach in front your property everyday. You do bbq next to the beach and listen the wave. that’s what the experience is. Meanwhile, the property is clean, amenities are all there plus a portable ac on the 2nd floor. The property manager is great. They are able to respond back and provide timely support. Kudos to the resident at the Hale Mahina resort also, they are so nice and friendly. They maintain the garden the swimming pool the bbq stove very well.

Great place!

Hale Marina is fantastic. Quaint, quiet, very relaxing. We have three kids and it was very nice, though I think that if you have very hyperactive kids it may not be the place for you. The condo was very nice. All as described. Nice amenities. Very comfortable. All very clean. Lanai was great. No complaints for us at all, it was perfect. We would come back in a heartbeat.

family times in maui

We've been to big island and kauai several times but this was our first trip to Maui. Overall, beautiful island. We explored quite a bit and really liked the Kihei side the best. The condo had a nice pool/hottub and location to the sandy beach was amazing. The lack of a/c (other than a small portlable window unit upstairs) and essential quite supplies (like tupperware, ziploc bags, ect) was a little dissa[pointing but we made due.

Very nice

Beautiful location, with balcony overlooking ocean, just a in pictures. Wonderful hearing ocean sounds at night and having coffee as sun rose in morning, Ceiling fans provided very adequate breeze, at least for December when temps were in the high 70's. My guess is that the second bedroom (not the main one in the loft, might get a bit warm and stuffy in warmer weather as it wouldn't get the breeze as experienced in the rest of the unit. That room could also probably use a bit of minor maintenance, but nothing significant.

Experiene at Honokowai

We enjoyed our stay very much. We came to celebrate our son’s 16th birthday as well as graduation present for our daughter’s graduation from HS. We had a great time. Our condo had a beautiful view and the pictures online were exactly how it was. The only issue was when it rained there was a leak in the bedroom we stayed in and it was wet on the floor under bed. It could of been from the window not sure. Other than that, we loved it and will definitely stay here again :)

Overall pretty good for a girls trip

Two of my girlfriends and I stayed here for what was my 3rd week in Hawaii. This was my 4th rental location on my trip. Gorgeous view from the balcony, felt pretty private there. We didn't hear a lot of noise from the pool or other balconies, despite there being people around. No noise from other units, either. Plenty of parking, never had an issue. My friends report their beds were "really comfortable." It was nice to have the beach chairs and umbrella. We had a great time in this place, but would suggest a few improvements. The Jalousie windows are old and the screens blew out in winds, which resulted in us not using them very much, which was unfortunate on warmer days. We felt the livingroom was too dimly lit - no overhead lighting. There are lamps, but not enough for us to play cards or a board game. We would have loved a bunch of hooks for drying swimsuits and towels. The listing mentioned a cooler, but there wasn't one there. And, because I am short and picky, I wish the showerheads were updated :-)! But for 3 moms escaping 8 kids after 18 months of pandemic, this was a sweet vacation and we will talk about it forever.

Perfect!

I almost don’t want to leave a raving review because I would like to keep this resort our little secret! This was our second time staying at Hale Mahina (but in a different condo) and it was even better than the first time. We had a great time whale watching from the balcony, walking the beach, swimming in the pool, and bbq-ing on the outdoor grills on the lawn. My ONLY critique is that the kitchen was poorly organized. We cooked almost every meal there during our stay and we all had to open nearly every cabinet to find the pot/dish/utensil we were looking for. A small price to pay though for how fantastic the condo was overall! All the fans were greatly appreciated, as was the selection of pool/beach equipment stored under the stairs. Thank you for a great time!

A beautiful beach and property but not kid/family friendly

The beach and unit was lovely. However the on-site management couple were super grumpy and unfriendly. They kept getting the kids in trouble anytime they were playing, even games like passing a ball, marco polo or colour games are not allowed in the pool. I would recommend this place for adults only, definitely not for families.

Comfortable and clean, great view!

We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. The pictures accurately reflect the unit, which is a bit dated, but everything was clean and comfortable including the beds. The property owners were responsive to our messages. We loved watching the whales from our lanai with our coffee every morning, and seeing the turtles coming up on the beach for a rest were an added bonus! One of the rooms is a loft, so there is some noise to be expected. We were all on the same schedule so it didn't bother us. The hot water tank is tiny, so we had to space out our shower times. We would stay here again.

Turtles and Whales Every Day!

We really enjoyed our time in this quiet condo complex. The view from the lanai is spectacular with a nice breeze that blows through since it's the corner unit and you can watch the whales from there while having a morning cup of coffee. Having a small beach to swim is great but the fact that turtles swim up there to rest makes it an even more special place to be (of course keeping a respectful distance of them though). The unit was clean and exactly as posted. It is a loft unit so one needs to expect that sound does travel up there. Fans and the cross-breeze through the unit were sufficient to keep us comfortable in the evenings. Outside, there are communcal bbqs and a pool. It's not fancy but since I come for the ocean, it was just an added bonus to have. Great trip! Will definitely stay here again!

Perfect Spot

A wonderful location in a clean and modern rental. Easy access to beach, swimming pool, hot tub, barbecue pits, and town. Perfect balcony where we watched whales, turtles and beautiful sunsets. The rental had everything you need. Will definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Week in Condo B401!

This is our second time staying at the Hale Mahina but the first time in this condo. The view is amazing and the condo is very clean. There was an issue with the garbage disposal and fridge and a repair man came right away. We will be booking again for next year!
