The views are absolutely sensational, the location - perfect!! To be able to experience this beautiful property with our dogs was an added bonus! We will definitely be returning!
A stunning property.
The location and serenity ensured that our family had another wonderful stay at River Downs.
Thank you again Andy and Penny for your hospitality and we look forward to another visit.
Beautiful spot on the river- river views from bed were stunning! Large deck was the perfect spot to enjoy a beer after a good day’s fly fishing with Andy. Feeding his pet trout in the swimming hole was even more fun! Would love to go back.
What a spot! The house is set in beautiful gsrdens right on the stunning howqua river, amazing views, beaut base to visit jamison or murchison or explore up into the high country. Andy is an A1 host.
Thoroughly enjoyed our calming, relaxing long weekend at Riverside House. The views over the Howqua River, literally in front of the cottage, farm, and bush surrounds are amazing. Accommodation was clean, cozy and comfortable and well equipped. We relished the warmth and glow of the wood burner each evening. A fantastic getaway!
If you want to get away from life with the most glorious views along with absolute peace this is the perfect spot. The house has everything you need for a long or short stay. So comfortable and warm. They have thought of everything. Books, music, movies, a fabulously stocked kitchen. We absolutely loved our few days here and will be back.
Great spot and certainly one of the better rentals. Andy was a great host and Fly fishing coach; when in season. Our Assistance pup loved it and made a new friend, ‘Roughy’, Andy’s dog.
Big Wallaroo’s come down of an evening so put your dog inside.
Our stay was super relaxing in our little cottage by the river.
Everything we needed to be comfortable was provided but taking groceries is essential. The cabin was very cosy and the views were stunning.
Thanks to Andy for leaving us with lots of chopped wood to keep warm and have a lovely wood fire in the evenings.
Not having any mobile access was a blessing so we could switch off and enjoy our surroundings.
House was clean stocked and ready house for any length of time with a beautiful view of the Howqua River. Host was great and well informed of the locale area. I would recommend looking into getting fly fishing lessons if you have time. It came with 2 single beds and one double in 2 reasonable sized rooms, 1 large fridge and a bar fridge in a stocked kitchen. Bathroom had a shower/bathtub and a separate toilet room. If you stay up late & with a torch you can see some wonderful wildlife walking around.
A very well maintained and comfortable property overlooking the Howqua River.
We stayed two nights in December, whilst my partner went horse riding I fished the Howqua upstream from the cabin. I caught and released some nice rainbow and brown trout. Below the cabin in the evenings we saw a platypus.
The cabin itself is comfortable, clean, and contains all the amenities that one would need. Well located between Mansfield and Jamieson, it is the ideal place to relax and explore. The host Andy is a top bloke and an experienced flyfisherman who provides guiding services.
A highly recommended property to book and enjoy.
Comfortable, practical house in a superb location on the Howqua River. River is right out front and the garden that surrounds the property rich with birdlife and flowers. A lovely spot to ground and find peace.
