Shangri-La Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"When I arrived I was told I wouldn't be eligible for the free breakfast because I had accepted an Expedia offer for a super low rate as a first-time customer of the hotel. I didn't think this was fair - why punish me for trying your hotel for the first time? I don't know much about Chinese food, I would have enjoyed just seeing the food :P and I am on a diet so I think I would have only drunk coffee anyway. I mean, I stayed for 8 days and tried to keep the room tidy so the nice person who cleaned the room wouldn't have to do a lot of work. I tried being kind to everyone. Oh well, go to a hotel and the first thing you hear is: you paid us too little, no food for you! :P :P :P In the meantime, the staff that I met were nice. The room was clean and the person who cleaned was always willing to clean if I wanted her to. The water was nice and hot in the shower. There was a table where I could sit and do work on my laptop, but sometimes the wifi was weak and I used my hotspot, but it was generally ok. The hotel was close to the light rail in the city and close to the Grand Canal and shopping malls, a Starbucks etc. Huai'an is a small city and they are not used to foreigners there, so old men may stare at you in the elevator and keep talking to each other about the laowei. :P"
