Scott and Mary Louise were friendly, welcoming hosts. They were available without being intrusive and the welcome gift was thoughtful. The house had everything we needed, so we brought along things we really didn't need. There were 6 of us, including our two adult children as well as their young teen siblings. There is enough space to spread out on the main floor so we didn't feel like we were under each other's feet the whole time. Two bathrooms were great to have, the water is drinkable/has a brita on the tap for anyone who doesn't like the water taste, or is used to city water. They had bikes, beach toys, floaties, life jackets, kitchen spices, some coffees, tea, as well as standard condiments in the fridge. Cupboards stocked with decent pots and pans, not the usual beat up cast offs that are often in rentals. It was easy to prep food, which was good because we have three celiacs in the house and options for take out are often limited in big cities, never mind rural islands. There were enough dishes and cutlery that I didn't have to run the dishwasher nonstop between meals. The AC really did keep the house cool even though it was a hot week. We didn't end up playing any games that we didn't bring with us, but there were a bunch of family friendly ones, s well as a large selection of books. We had great weather, so we were outdoors every day. making use of the extensive yard and the outdoor chairs to admire the view. Down by the water it was great to have a place to sit and relax and to have a bonfire. There were outdoor motion detector lights which made it easy to navigate up from the beach at dark, and around the driveway/yard at night. The kayaks and rowboat were fun for everyone and the shallow lake entry was great. Water shoes are a must as it's a rocky shoreline with zebra mussels on the rocks away from shore. We saw a lot of small perch swimming around, which was cool for the kids. Very low traffic, peaceful location, lovely views. CONS: 1.Downstairs bathroom shower pressure was too low for my thick hair. 2.Mary-Louise didn't have any of her groot planters in her shop and 3.We only booked a stay for a week.
