"The hotel is in a great location overlooking a sandy beach and I think all of the rooms have this beautiful view. The staff are great and very helpful. There are a couple of negatives about it for me. The hotel rooms felt a bit dated compared to everywhere else we stayed. The pool was closed for the whole time we were there. Probably the most frustrating was that between 3pm and 6 there is no way to get anything to eat. After that the restaurants are v limited, a very expensive french restaurant and Very expensive japanese restaurant. It is a short trip on the train to Kawsu where there are more options or a small beach shack serving local food during the day."

"JOYinn is a wonderful place to stay for easy access to various sights on the Ito Peninsula! The husband and wife team who run the inn are extremely thoughtful, kind, and willing to help. The rooms are spacious by Japanese standards, and the laundry service was very convenient. This inn is well-geared toward international travelers and has parking for a rental car right out front. Highly recommend!"

"Great place to go and chill, make sure your room has an outdoor soaking tub. However, I felt the staff does not typically deal with English speaking guests, while they are accommodating, culture may have been an issue. One staff member, from India was essentially assigned to my well being, and after I requested a taxi to drive me from the hotel to a further train station, I decided to utilize the local train to connect to the further station, and requested the hotel shuttle. I was told the taxi “was already booked and could not be cancelled”. I’m not sure if there was an additional charge from the hotel for the booking, but my request was 2.5 hours before departure. I had to insist on the hotel shuttle, and the staff member relented. This leads me to believe they either do not deal with many English speaking guests, or simply prefer only Japanese guests. Be forewarned, the expectation of truly good service and the perception of what you actually get may differ. Otherwise, it’s a good hideaway out of Tokyo for a night or two."

"We loved our authentic Japanese vacation stay. Fireworks were a surprise we had not expected. Buffet had a large variety of choices although I am allergic to shrimp and do t like seafood so it limited me. I was still able to find enough to eat each day. Onsen was a new experience for us being Canadian but now we love it and will miss this relaxing ritual."

"The staff at this hotel are super kind and helpful. The English speakers are few so if you do not speak Japanese just have your translate app handy to help them and yourself. We were a little sad the pool was closed and not maintained but the room was very authentic and really fun to stay in. It was the traditional experience we were looking for and the private onsen in room was wonderful to relax in. This is a very small town so if you do not want to hunt for dinner, I would recommend booking the in house dining services, If you are a picky eater there is a grocery store maybe 10 mins of walking from the hotel. They have a nice help yourself bar when you check in with drinks and snacks while they prepare your room. This is absolutely a place to come and relax and take things slow. They offer shuttle service from the hotel to the train station starting at 9am i believe so if you need an early start discuss that with them first. They can also pick you up from the train station but we took a taxi which was also just fine. Not a ton of activities in the area so only come here when you want to take it slow and enjoy the oceanside views. We really enjoyed this one night stay and hope to come back someday."
