"Very good hotel. Just a bit dated but nostalgic of the old Shanghai feel."

Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai
10/10 Excellent
"This is my favorite hotel I have ever stayed at. I got a free upgrade for my birthday and the view and room were INCREDIBLE. I almost turned my trip into a staycation. I ordered room service twice and took the best bath of my life every night. The desk area was perfect for a big meeting I had. There was also turn-down service, and all the staff were incredibly attentive. I even took advantage of the spa as my hotels.com membership gave me a discount. I also thought the bar was nice though it wasn't very full. I would happily stay here again. :)"

Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel on the Bund by Nanjing Road
10/10 Excellent
"View from 17th story lounge. Lounge staff."

Grand Hyatt Shanghai
10/10 Excellent
"Very unique rooms i must say the bailman amenities we're amazing."

Central Hotel Shanghai
8/10 Good
"The room is clean and space is great. Location is wonderful. The only thing we concern is the elevator did not use key security. That means any outsider can enter the elevator and come into your hallway."

Shanghai Marriott Marquis City Centre
10/10 Excellent
"Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the Shanghai Marriott Marquis. The location is excellent and makes it a great base for exploring the city. Our room was a good size and offered the level of comfort you'd expect from a Marriott property. That said, there were a few areas that could be improved. Housekeeping was a little inconsistent. On more than one occasion, the soap or shower gel dispensers weren't refilled, and some glass surfaces still had water marks, as though they had only been wiped over quickly. These are relatively minor issues, but they're not what you'd expect from a hotel of this standard. The concierge team could also be more proactive. A warmer welcome and a few more smiles would make guests feel much more valued. Unfortunately, the member of staff responsible for arranging taxis was particularly rude to my wife, which was disappointing and something I hope management addresses. One thing that genuinely surprised me was that the final bill was calculated using the exchange rate on the day of checkout rather than check-in. I'd recommend paying upfront if possible, unless you're happy to take the risk that exchange rates move in your favour. Finally, be aware that the hotel's laundry service is exceptionally expensive. I'd strongly recommend using one of the many local laundries instead, as you'll save a significant amount. Despite these criticisms, the hotel still provides the quality and comfort you'd expect from Marriott and I would return."
