Beautifully situated comfortable cottage and pottery, a perfect holiday base
Lovely spacious newly refurbished two bedroom barn conversion with parking and enclosed garden, perfect for families, walkers and those wishing to get away from it all. Little Stadbury combines the convenience of being located within a couple of miles of stunning sandy beaches, lovely welcoming pubs serving delicious food and the historic market town of Kingsbridge whilst tucked away down its own private mile long drive.
The cottage has been completely refurbished and has all mod cons including dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso coffee machine and central heating and is comfortably and stylishly furnished with luxurious feather and down duvets and pillows and fluffy towels. Dogs are most welcome and just in case they happen to get a little wet and muddy, there is an outside tap with hose, and we provide old towels to dry them! Please note there is an additional cost of GBP 30 per dog. We also provide a highchair, travel cot and stair gate for the little ones by arrangement, and the garden is safe and enclosed with patio, BBQ and grassy area, accessed from the French doors by the kitchen. There is ample parking for two cars. There is also the use of our field for ball games and exercising your dog. Guests can now try their hand, by arrangement with Sarah, at pottery in the recently completed Little Piggery Pottery studio. Suitable for both beginners and more experienced potters alike, you can try your hand at throwing on the wheel, slab building, decorating and glazing. Any items that you make can be fired in the kiln here and sent on to you as a memento of your stay. Within walking distance is the village of Bantham and its gorgeous sandy beach, (voted one of Europe’s finest beaches) which is patrolled by lifeguards during the summer months and where you can learn to surf, paddle board and windsurf or just sunbathe, sleep or read! Whilst dogs are not allowed on the main beach between May and the end of September, they ARE allowed on the vast beach (at low tide) at the mouth of the estuary between Bantham and Bigbury on Sea. Little Stadbury is also yards from the Avon Estuary Walk route, from which you can pick up the Coastal Path. There are a number of pubs within walking distance including the excellent 14th century Sloop Inn and the Fisherman's Rest (Aveton Gifford), while further afield you are spoilt for choice in terms of award winning eateries. There are village shops in Bantham, Aveton Gifford and Churchstow, and the market town of Kingsbridge is three miles away with a choice of supermarkets and interesting artisanal shops. Modbury is also worth a visit, particularly to the Wild Goose antique shop. The South Devon Chilli Farm is nearby at Loddiswell. Salcombe is around 7 miles away and Dartmouth 12 for those of a nautical disposition. Burgh Island is well worth a visit, particularly for lunch at the Pilchard Inn (est 1336), steeped in fishing history and the Hotel is famed for its links to Agatha Christie. When the tide is in the sea tractor will take you there from Bigbury on Sea. Little Stadbury is superbly located to enjoy everything that the South Hams and South Devon has to offer while providing peace and quiet without being completely off the beaten track.

Perfect property and location with fantastic hosts!
Lovely roomy cottage in the perfect super quiet location with everything you might need for a relaxing stay and we have stayed several times over the past few years - spring and summers. Much to see and do locally whatever the weather and brilliant, welcoming hosts.
Little Stadbury was such a perfect location for our family. It is close to the coastline and to some amazing villages. Malcolm and Sarah were perfect hosts and very helpful to find places and activities for our family.
A great place to stay with family and dogs, so nice and quiet with it’s own field to let dogs run around.
We will stay again as it was not far from the beach and Salcombe. Very clean and well presented.
We absolutely loved our stay at Little Stadbury. It's a gorgeous property in a beautiful location. We found it so spacious and comfortable and ideal for us and the teenage children and our dog too! Malcom and Sarah were so welcoming and helpful. We would definitely love to go back sometime.
A very well appointed comfortable cottage. The owners were friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay greatly and would not hesitate to make a return visit .
Malcolm and Sarah were fantastic hosts, always willing to provide tips about local restaurants and beaches.
The house is very well stocked and perfect for a weekend or week long getaway. There are lovely walks all around and you can even reach Bantham beach in under an hour. The local area is beautiful and well worth a visit, Salcombe and Kingsbridge being particularly nice.
All in all a fantastic stay and highly recommended.
Malcolm and Sarah are ideal hosts and most welcoming. We felt we could always refer to them for help - but of course we never needed to! Little Stadbury is considerably more spacious than it appears from the outside and very comfortable inside. The two nearest beaches are wonderful and quite unique and the surrounding countryside truly picturesque. Superb holiday, many thanks.
Amazing location with wonderful walks and views from the door step, added extra shot of wellness by taking a pottery class on site under Sarah’s expert and passionate guidance which was a creative treat💗
The most accommodating hosts who went above and beyond to ensure we were all comfortable - including the dogs - even sharing a gorgeous home cooked meal & wine - Devine few days in this very special corner of Devon.
Thank you ☀️🥂💕
The property was bigger than it looked in the photos, was very well equipped and very clean.
Down a long lane, there is no traffic or noise aside from a rooster yet it’s convenient for Kingsbridge and beaches. This really is a lovely pro.
Lovely area, quiet and very relaxing. There are some great walks straight from the property which we made the most of, some easy and some more challenging. Even though it seems remote you are so close to everything in the area you need (supermarkets, pubs, takeaway, beaches). Hosts are there if you need them, but not intrusive. Just a fantastic relaxing week away. :)
The location is stunning and the house is as lovely as the pictures. We walked to Bantham Beach with the dogs one day in gloriously late summer weather.
We slept really well as it is so peaceful. It really is the perfect place to get away from it all and recharge.
The dogs especially loved the paddock. Plenty of zoomies.
Very quiet location a mile off the main road down a tarmac track. Malcolm and Sarah were very hospitable and were very helpful with advice on where to visit and where to eat. Very comfortable beds, slept well.
Large paddock area for dogs to run around in as well as an enclosed small patio and grass area to the side of the cottage.
It’s a large-feeling property - larger than it looks on Vrbo everything you need to self-cater just being the usual self-catering kit. It’s in a location that has great variety for walkers or general vacationing - doing some research before and ask the wonderful hosts Sarah and Malcolm for suggestions. Walk up the lane across the fields to spot buzzards and a barn owl or two or go for a very fine pizza with messy fries at the Rockbox. Second stay this year so cannot fault.
We had a lovely holiday here, the place is wonderful, with stunning views. You've probably missed out on the super cute puppy, but she added to our enjoyment! The walk to Bantham is picturesque, but Devon does love its hills, so be prepared. Some great running routes around there.
Sarah and Malcolm were very helpful and friendly but never intrusive. We really enjoyed having a go on the potter's wheel and seeing all Sarah's pots. The place is a short drive from Kingsbridge (v pretty) and Salcombe where we enjoyed the scenary and hired kayaks to explore the estuary's beaches.
Really enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day.
If you want to press pause on your life for a short while - this is for you! Malcolm and Sarah were the perfect hosts. From the point of booking, Malcom stayed in touch to make sure everything was ok.
Little Stadbury is the perfect rural setting escape.
It's spotlessly clean, well equipped and comfortable.
We had one rainy day and Sarah taught us how to use the potters wheel. We each made a trinket and Sarah will be posting them back to us when they have been fired in the kiln.. we are looking forward to receiving them..
I cant recommend Little Stadbury enough.. It's THE perfect getaway to unwind and to recharge. Thank you Malcom and Sarah for making us feel so welcome. We hope to come back !
Comfortable cottage in fantastic location for beaches
We had a lovely sunny week in this comfortable cottage. The twin bedroom is big enough for two teenage girls and can fit a third if they were younger too. The cottage is very clean and well equipped with all the extras you usually don't get any more e.g. toilet roll, cling film, washing up liquid so you don't need to worry if you have forgotten anything. The beds are very comfy, the washing machine and the BBQ are excellent. The downstairs is a big open plan space with plenty of room to store bikes and paddle boards. It's also lovely and cool when it's hot outside. There is a table and chairs and a BBQ in the small garden and a big field to walk your dog if you have one.
There is a choice of beautiful beaches within a short 10 minute drive and very good local places to eat. Kingsbridge and Salcombe with many restaurants and pubs are both 10 mins away. We also ate at the wonderful Oyster Shack on the tidal road. Plymouth and Dartmouth are an easy 30 minutes drive for many more things to do such as the National Aquarium, Castles and boat trips.
The hosts are very welcoming and happy to help with anything. My daughter was able to try her hand at pottery with Sarah and enjoyed this very much. We are eagerly awaiting the final pieces once they have been fired.
We were able to charge our electric car very easily at the hub at Buckfastleigh on the way down and then 22kwh chargers at both Salcombe and Kingsbridge.
We had a lovely week in glorious weather and hope to return.
The cottage is most comfortable with everything needed for an excellent holiday. Easy access to good walking and very dog friendly. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
Excellent holiday experience as always - fourth visit for us - did more and further walks and found some excellent spots for breakfast and lunches. Can’t be faulted. Highly recommend the Church House Inn nearby. Food and service is excellent. Portions are large so be careful not to order too much. All in all Ideally placed for many different days out and scenic walks.
