  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent Family House

We stayed with young kids and several adults and it was perfect for the whole group. The sand in the backyard was a bonus for littles to dig in without having to go all the way to the beach for fun in the sand. Great location; easy to get to grocery stores and restaurants without having to wind through a slower neighborhood road.

NC Vacation

We had a wonderful time in the area with two of our children and grandchildren, although we would not stay at this facility again. The place needs some additional attention and care to it along with a better initial cleaning service. You will need to make sure you bring all the items they suggest along with extra towels, pillowcases, blankets (if staying during cooler months), beach towels, etc.

Arrived and when making beds found a dead bug and scat trapped in a mattress pad. Called and someone came out and replaced it (but they left the dead bug laying on floor). As I made other beds, I found various other stains on comforter and mattress pads. Also, not certain that the beds are true queens? Refrigerator drawers didn’t work, we ended up just taking them completely out for the week. Mid level half bath toilet didn’t work, no one bothered to come to look at it until Friday. For a beautifully landscaped community, this house was LONG overdue for a mowing! Large grill in back was filthy and unusable, had to use the tiny store one that was in garage area. Pretty sure the community play area listed in description has been removed. We could not find it. Also, walking to the beach from here is NOT SAFE. You have to cross a 4 lane major highway and there are no crosswalks in the area!Lastly, I had clicked ‘contact host’ to ask about the house being equipped with some additional items so we didn’t have to lug them and I got a generic response back from the realty group saying that none of the items were in the description (which I clearly knew) so we should plan to bring it all. The house had EVERY item I had asked about : volleyball, crockpot, beach chairs, large boil pan. I’m just hopefully saving others from overpacking.One plus was the community pool, quick walk to it and we had the whole thing to ourselves almost all week!!
