  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Oceanfront Condo

The location is very good, and the condo was quite comfortable. However, the unit is listed as a second floor condo, but the ground floor of the building is actually an open area. So, the condo is actually a third story unit. Unloading and loading the car for older people like us was much more difficult than we anticipated, and it greatly reduced our enjoyment (lots of steps). The condo should be listed as a third story unit. I think that we should get a refund because we were misled.

The condo is in a great location, with two balconies overlooking the ocean and just steps to the beach. It was also within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in Duck. Inside, it was spacious, clean and well-maintained, with comfortable furniture. Everything we needed

Great spot in Duck

I loved this two bedroom spot - plenty of room for a friend and I to enjoy one last week at the beach. The ocean view from the balcony is great with high chairs to really take it in. Kitchen is small but standard in this community and certainly manageable for 2ppl. Location is perfect: I loved biking to shops, coffee, fish market, etc. Will definitely try to stay here again!
