  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent Vacation Stay

The townhouse shows some aging however, it had everything we wanted and more. It was very clean and spacious for 6 adults. We liked that each bedroom had its own bathroom for privacy. Everything you could need was available: toiletries, dishes, glasses, utensils, cook ware, all were clean and in good condition. It is the perfect distance from the beach and it was so helpful that they provided beach chairs, umbrella and a hose in the garage. They made sure that everything you would need was available!! We would go back and stay here again!

We were very disappointed with what the property ended up vs what I thought we reserved. We were told, not given the choice, to upgrade to a 'better' room. The BIGGEST problem, we lost a bedroom. Big deal for 3 non related adults. We were not given a solution but told we would receive 300 off. Not sure when I will get that...The property itself was dirty on the deck and had dog hair in it. The tv remotes didn't work for the TVs and something we couldn't control was the cloudy & rainy weather. We will not be scheduling a rental in this area again through VRBO , I will stick to private management companies.
