Loved the room we had with a shower and jacuzzi bath. Big room over looking the street and a river. Staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I loved the fact we could cook our own food in the kitchen and eat at the dining room and use the fridge - brilliant AND most of affordable!

Lovely jewel of a hotel
Check in was easy with the instructions from our email, the staff we encountered are all friendly and welcoming. The hotel is extremely comfortable with a modern twist to an old building. There is plenty of amenities at the hotel, including space to do your own cooking if desired. This is a beautiful hotel and we’ll definitely be back

Limited parking but convenient. The room was a good size and clean. The bathroom was very nice. The hotel offer use of a kitchen and dining area- great if you want a take away from one of the many food places in the town. The bed was very low and the lights were quite dim but the staff were very welcoming and accommodating and we had a great stay.

So price for this place varies from £45 to £65 a night, parking at the back is free after 6pm So, if its uour 1st time and you check in after 6pm you have to ring them , they send you a disclaimer to sign that charges 150 if you lose keys and 300 for smoking in room/drinking in public area. Theres a kitchen downstairs thats free to use with microwave kettle,toaster and little oven, fridges to store food in. The rooms , are clean only 2 pillows and usually a chair thats uncomfy,. Tvs some work ok some can pick up 112 channels but you cant watch. Free wifi is generally a good connection. Now rhe rooms are warm, you have to have the window open , also if its raining youll hear lound drios that will drive you bonkers. Alternativly sleep with the window shut and wake in a pool of sweat. This week i was advised that there was no hot water, and advised that id get reimbursed/refund for that nights stay (not seen anything heating on monday only , slept much better.

The site says there is parking. There is a public car park behind the hotel, but the hotel itself has parking for just five vehicles.

Greenhouse Room 29!
Room 29 is unfit to be a hotel room. It has a glass roof with no blinds or curtains so at first light you are awake. On a hot day it would be unbearable- like being in a greenhouse.

Would not recommend this hotel
It wasn’t made clear at time of booking that the hotel is not staffed. Room wasn’t cleaned/no consumables replenished. This included towels and toilet roll. When I finally got a hold of someone to speak to they said they only clean after a stay of a week.! No cleaning or restocking is done for shorter stays. (We we’re staying for 4 nights). The TV didn’t work and despite requests wasn’t fixed. Staff on the phone line followed a script and wouldn’t budge from it. We had to go out and buy toilet roll, teabags and milk, and saw other guests doing the same. Entry is by lockbox and I had to email/call a few times to get the check in details because their system wouldn’t allow me to complete the process. Thankfully there was someone on reception - briefly - one morning and she agreed to give us fresh towels and toilet roll. This was not a cheap stay and was not value for money. I would not recommend the hotel to anyone if they like to stay in a clean room with basic amenities provided.

The bathroom (Room 26) was in serious need of maintenance. 1) The bathplug didn't work so to enjoy a hot soak and jacuzzi I had to employ a plug I keep in my toilet bag. 2) The mirror above the basin was clearly one that should illuminate but it didn't. 3) The glass shelf above the basin was dangerously low, making tooth cleaning hazardous. 4) The soap dispenser was too big for the mounting bracket so that the pump operation was faulty.

Nice building but almost zero services and staff. No restaurant or bar facilities. The owner has not invested anything to improve the hotel. The TVs could not get to operate. The lady on reception was as helpful as she could be.

Pleasant stay and it was peaceful until 9pm when some French man decided to have a very noisy row with someone (outside my door ) which went on and on for over an hour. Another resident came out and asked him to keep the noise down !

Visit aborted
Hotel is unmanned and does not appear to have security checks. No face to face personnel to check on room or building issues. Despite boasting 24/7 contact available I had issues reporting faults. On 1st evening of a 2 night stay my ensuite toilet and shower stopped functioning due to no cold water supply. I was not able to achieve contact until 9.30am. They did not see this as an emergency and told me an engineer would not be visiting until after my booking was over. They could not guarantee anither room with facilities so I was forced to cut short my visit by 24 hours. They have refused a full refund after4 days of emailing them. Appalling customer care. I would not recommend this hotel. They considered it no more than a slight inconvenience that a paying guest should have no access to a toilet or shower.

if you arrive after 6pm there is no reception so you have to deal with an Indian call centre. Despite phoning and asking if i could pay at the property you get constant emails requesting payment and three phone calls on the day asking your arrival time. If you are long distance walking and dependant on public transport in rural areas its impossible to give an accurate answer. a cold breakfast is left on a tray outside your room each day. The rooms are warm, clean, spacious and comfortable. Beds exceptionally comfortable Showers warm and powerful, esp important after a days walking. There is a large car park adjacent to the hotel ( payment required) I'm not a fan of hotels with limited reception hours but with staff shortages and increased costs its probably the way forward for many rural hotels. In fairness it is all explained in the small print when you book.

No way in...
After rushing to the hotel to get there before the desk closed, we arrived to find the desk had already closed (!) Once we had the key (from a box on the wall), we couldn't open the front door and the phone number we called went to someone who didn't work at the hotel who (un)helpfully informed us that there was no one working at the hotel. The only reason we didn't have to sleep in the car outside was another guest let us in.
