We stayed at the Farmhouse with my daughters and granddaughter for a girls weekend in the country. It was a lovely setting and the property was exactly what we expected. The house was clean and comfortable and close to several fun, fall activiites. We would stay here again.
The property is truly an old farmhouse with some charm, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing due to several maintenance issues. The first night, a breaker tripped with the space heaters plugged in. There is no other heat upstairs, and the heaters are plugged into extension cords running through the upstairs. When we arrived, one bedroom had no working lights, and my elderly parents had to pull their king-size bed away from the wall just to plug in two lamps. The second day, after only two showers, the hot water ran out. We assumed it was a small water heater, but we never had hot water again. We didn’t discover this until 11 p.m. when we returned to the house and were getting ready for bed. Since we were leaving first thing the next morning, I didn’t want to wait up for someone to come fix it. When I notified the owner/manager, I felt he put the blame on me for not reporting it at 11 p.m. rather than acknowledging the inconvenience. The bed was uncomfortable enough to cause back pain. My dad also couldn’t get the TV to work, and several enormous flies buzzed around the house like mini drones. The farmhouse may appeal to those looking for a rustic experience, but guests should be aware of the maintenance issues and problems with basic amenities. Thankfully, we only stayed two nights.
