  • On 14 April 2016, a massive earthquake (magnitude 6.2) struck Kumamoto prefecture and damaged numerous structures of the Kumamoto Castle complex including the main castle. Routes and pathways were still open and available for visitors. During our visit, efforts for reconstruction of Kumamoto castle were under way as can be seen in the background of this photo. The Uto Yagura turret (foreground), on the other hand, survived the quake and remains intact.

The hotel is in a good location near to the shopping district however the room assigned to us and our child was very cramped with hardly any walking space and we are unable to open up our luggage. And there are wardrobe to hand our jackets, only 4 wall hangers. The shower room is also tiny and no space to hang up the toilets. Not suitable for families.

This hotel had excellent service in English! Check-in was smooth, with lots of public parking nearby. There were lots of free amenities, the room was very clean, and the location was fantastic.

The hotel seems fairly new and was very clean. Moreover, the location is right by a tram stop, and is a very short walk to a lot of restaurants and stores, including a nice Shinshigai (large covered shopping area) that is across the street. Only about a 20 minute walk to Kumamoto Castle as well. The bed was very firm, which some might not like, but I thought it was good.

Above and beyond

The hotel was amazing, it blew away our expectations. We received pajamas and slippers, and the room itself was cozy and comfortable. Everything seemed of high quality and well thought. I highly recommend it.

Ms. Kim who was at the front desk was amazing. I saw her handle Korean, Japanese and English speaking customers. She does the work of three people and in a very caring manner. She made my check in so smooth. Thank you and Kim!

Just a few fixes.

Hotel is just a good place to shower and rest. It is located in a good area. If you have a car, you will have to pay an extra 2000 yen a day for parking. Their coffee set up is from 3pm-midnight, which is kind of odd times.

Hotel is walking distance to transport facilities like Karashimacho Tram Station and Sakuramachi Bus Terminal. The shopping arcade which has food and convenience stores are also within walking distance. However, despite the easy access to transport and shopping, the rooms seems to be generally a bit tighter. Hope that they can improve on the acknowledgement portion because they did not respond initially when I use contact property on Expedia. It was only after sending an email to Expedia which I then have the confirmation acknowledgement.

Disappointed about the some of the staff

The management wasn't friendly, i told the miss manager the light in the room wasn't working properly ,she said we will check it out. I think she should offer proper conform to the customers. Also i was asking if i could leaves the car , until 12 . I could walk visit around come get back car . She wouldn't not backed off the policy. If you want a customer come back to your hotel train your staff be friendly able adjusted for small request.
