KOU | Kyoto Machiya by the Kamogawa River | Private Whole House, Sleeps 6
[Kou | PRIVATE MAISON KOU] is a hidden gem—a renovated machiya townhouse available for exclusive rental—nestled in the Kikuhama area of Gojo, Kyoto, where the Kamogawa and Takasegawa rivers flow. Preserving the 100-year-old black beams and double-height ceilings, this unique space seamlessly blends white walls and wooden latticework on the exterior with a modern, sophisticated interior, offering a relaxing retreat for up to 7 guests.
The first floor features a twin bedroom, a cypress bath, and a beautiful tsubo-niwa courtyard with a bamboo fence and landscaping. On the second floor, the main level features an open-concept dining, living, and kitchen area with a solid-wood dining table set beneath a vaulted ceiling. The tatami-mat bedroom features a queen-size low bed, a futon, and a skylight, allowing you to enjoy the tranquil nights unique to Kyoto.
The fully equipped kitchen (induction cooktop, oven, microwave, rice cooker, coffee maker, and dishwasher) is furnished entirely with BALMUDA appliances. Bath amenities are by Aesop; toothbrushes and slippers are from Miyo Organic; and the hair dryer is a Panasonic NanoCare. We also provide towels, linens, seasonings, and ground coffee from Kyoto’s long-established “Inoda Coffee.” The entire property is equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, air purifiers, humidifiers, a washer and dryer, a flat-screen TV (compatible with Netflix and YouTube), and Bluetooth speakers. This spacious 4LDK unit features a total floor area of approximately 120 ㎡, with a private bathroom and a toilet equipped with a Washlet on both the first and second floors.
It offers exceptional convenience for daily life, located a 12-minute walk from Kyoto Station, a 3-minute walk to the nearest 7-Eleven, and a 9-minute walk to the “Fresco Gojo-ohashi” supermarket.
