First the Good: the house was large enough to hold our entire family (5 adults and 1 child)- and everyone had their own space to retreat to when they needed their down time. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, pots, pans, 2 coffee pots- one keruig, one regular pot, a toaster, crock pot, plus a full kitchen. Our bed in the master was comfortable and as far as I know the other beds were comfy as well. The home was easy to get to, but a bit far from the amenities - be prepared to drive, not walk.
The BAD: the fire place which is listed as a gas fireplace on the listing, is NOT and as far as I can tell never has been a gas fireplace. It seems to have once been a wood fireplace that they’ve put in an electric heater (no real flame) which was our main reason for renting this particular home, along with the overall layout & space. I am unable to have a wood fireplace because the smell gives me a migraine, but having a real flame where you can toast marshmallows and make s’mores is something we all very much enjoy. Plus sitting by an actual fire when you’re from down south is a real treat we don’t often get. While the home was clean (towels/bedding/dishes), unfortunately when we walked into the main floor greeting us right away was a very large dead roach. Thankfully it was dead, but since cleaners were supposed to have been there before we got in, it was a shock to see. Later we found other dead roaches, but the worst was seeing a very alive roach that was far too high on the dining room wall for us to reach so we all had to live together knowing we had live roaches. Parking is a bit of an issue. The home we stayed in is attached to a second home. Both homes were rented out and when we got there the home closest to the road had parked their second car across from our garage. The listing says that three cars can be brought, two in the garage one in the driveway, but I’m not so sure that is truly possible. If two of the cars are small they could fit in the garage, but the parking outside of the garage should be clearly marked so we know which area is zoned for which house. I assume that the spot the other home took was supposed to be ours. This problem can be easily enough fixed with parking signs if some sort, but I do think 3 cars per home would be a very tight, possibly unsafe squeeze. Also, beware- DO NOT walk on deck barefoot. Nails and splinters are a very big concern. I put one foot out the living room door with slight weight on my foot, & instantly feel a nail head popped up and dig into my foot.
Overall, the house was clean as far as clean towels, dishes, bedding etc. I don’t think we would rent from Vacasa again, and I hope things are fixed; from the fireplace being misrepresented to the parking, bugs & decks addressed for safety.
