I was attempting to cross over Raton Pass to go to Colorado in a snow storm, and got trapped when blowing snow forced the closing of the interstate highway 50 miles out of Las Vegas NM. There are very few motels/hotels within 100 miles of this area. I easily booked a room. On arrival the staff were very friendly and even helped me, and my stranded companions, find current road conditions. The property is dog and child friendly (you might be greeted by either one, which personally I love). It is not the Waldorf-Astoria, but the price is not either. If you want to stay in a place where people care, and want to help you, this is a great place. They even agreed to hold my room until noon, to give me a chance to see if I got over Raton Pass (which luckily I did!). Overall 5 stars for me!
