It was excellent value, comfy and cosy. Loved that there was a bath AND shower (useful if you break your wrist so bath is the only option). Staff were really nice and helpful, and cheered me up after hospital with hot chocolate. No food as out of season (so check first if you want breakfast). I would go back though as great base for walks

The lady that greeted us was lovely and she then told us where our room was. We hoped to eat in the hotel but was told that the chef had called in unable to cook. I tried to find out if we could get breakfast next morning but nobody came back to us. Nobody told us how to exit the building in an emergency and when we left the next morning at 9.45 we had to let ourselves out and leave the keys on the bar having seen no one! Middleham itself is beautiful and the hotel ideally situated but it let itself down I’m afraid.

One night stay was ok, but couldn't get anything to eat so had to travel to get something had we known this we would have eaten before getting there, and no breakfast so a bit disappointed, a spoon for tea would have been nice & a bulb in the bathroom out.

Middleham is a beautiful place to stay and to enjoy walking and a bit of wild swimming. The place oozes character. Richard III boasts age and character, so don’t stay here if you want modern. No breakfast included which we hadn’t checked, but there is a lovely tearoom but 2minutes walk away, racing stables close by so plenty of thoroughbreds trotting through the centre. I found the place delightful.

Good sized room but very tired , unfortunately it was next to the pubs ladies toilets and over looking the bins . Both of which created noise with recycling , flushing and hand dryers . No fan in room the tea tray was missing spoons and the sugar container was empty and not clean . Overall the room was over priced at £102.60 which did not include breakfast.

The only good thing about Richard 111 hotel were the staff, But the room we had was not very clean, and urgently in need of some maintenance work, and judging from what we saw the rest of the upstairs could as well, In the end we didn’t stay the night ,we took are bags back to the car and drove home! .

We had previously visited the Richard III Pub last summer and were very impressed with the welcome we received and the food on that occasion, so we decided to stay here this year while visiting family in the area. Once again, we received a warm welcome from the staff member who checked us in quickly and told us where our room was. We stayed in Room 5, which was spacious, clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was also clean and tidy and had a particularly large shower. There were a couple of small things we felt could be improved. The upstairs corridor is decorated in quite dark green, which makes it feel rather dim, and there are a couple of steps along the corridor which aren't immediately obvious as they blend in with the carpet. A couple of small "Mind the Step" signs might be helpful, particularly for guests arriving or moving around the property in low light. We also didn't notice any pillow or mattress protectors in the room, although these may have been fitted underneath the bedding. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and the room itself was spacious and clean. However, having enjoyed our previous visit so much, we unfortunately didn't feel that this stay matched that experience, and on balance we wouldn't choose to stay again.

I asked the staff why, when it was on their site, they stated that the new owners did not include breakfast, the staff were a bit embarrassed although they were very good. We had a racing break their it was vey good and clean the only negative was the evening meal finished at 7 we were 2 late. And no breakfast . We could only have 1 coffee each as their was no coffee sachets and milk cartains. When the bar closed
