Overall I had a good stay. You’re definitely paying for the location. It’s awesome! You’re right by the national history museum, and I could easily jump on the underground and get to all the sights really quickly. I had the single (twin bed) room. It was small, but functional. Housekeeping did a great job of refreshing my room and the front desk man was great. The lift was out of service during my entire visit, so that was a bit annoying having to walk up and down from the top floor, but whatever, extra exercise. my biggest complaint though was that the hot water in my shower was waaaaaay too hot!!! It basically had 2 settings — scolding hot or 3rd degree burn hot.

The service was so friendly and welcoming, unfortunately the lifts were out of order (and I was on the 4th floor) but they arranged for my bag to be taken up. The room was clean and there was water and teas/coffees provided (nice touch). Plus 24hr concierge, so no late night access problems. So the only negative and sadly a big negative were the pillows. They were like solid bricks - I kept waking all through the night because of them. What a shame as the bed was fine. Please do something about your pillows - they were terrible and ruined what would have been a very pleasant stay.

I loved staying at Gainsborough Hotel. As a soli traveller who is 140lbs(63kg), the shower was still tough but at least I had my own restroom. It was very quiet and I enjoyed staying. If someone is big (70kg or higher), then it will be very hard to take a shower. Other than shower, everything was perfect. I felt very comfortable while staying

The location is great. The staff are amazing. Truly amazing. The only thing I would say is that the facilities are in shaky condition. We blew a couple of fuses and the ac had to be fixed twice while we were there. Also, the elevator was so tiny and scary that we did not use it. So we climbed 4 stories every time we went to the room. But I would stay there again in a minute.

A rubber mat was not provided for the shower and the shower doors would not close properly. Room 206. I could not figure out the central heat. Didnt seem like the controls were working properly. Really lovely staff though.

This hotel has been done up to a high standard, with comfy beds and very nice bathroom! I only stayed one night for work so didn't get to make the most of the hotel's fantastic location for sightseeing. It was very straightforward to find from the tube station. The room itself was small (I had a single bed) but fairly standard for London. My only issue was the lack of towels upon check in, but very quickly remedied!!

A solid choice for a stay in South Kensington. Staff very helpful, clean and up to date. Only odd thing was the bathroom door configuration. The hinges opened the wrong way (opened inwards instead of outwards. Would be very tricky or impossible for a large customer to squeeze in.

I took the Single occupancy room and it was terrible. It’s not the size, which is tiny, but the very poor design. No where to hang a towel, no where to put a toothbrush, but the time you plug a charger, there is no place for your phone and glasses next to your bed. The bed is not comfortable and the curtains hang in your head. When I asked staff to change rooms, they didn’t even get back to me as promised

Clean and tidy hotel close to attractions
The hotel was clean and tidy and close to the Royal Albert Hall and South Kensington. The room had been recently painted and was still a strong smell of paint and the paint job was hit and miss. Room was clean and tidy. Mattress a bit soft and walls were thin as you could hear conversations in next room. Shower was not working very well.

Fantastic location and great value. Space was clean and staff was helpful and accommodating. The only thing is I kept blowing a circuit breaker with the tea kettle. They reset it right away but it happened twice before I gave up on tea.

Location is great. Service is not bad. However, we got the room next to the elevetor and it was horrible. All night, there were very loud sounds from the elevetor which made my entire family wake up. We stayed two nights but because of the loud elevetor noise, we couldn't sleep at all.

Not bad, but not recommended.
The hotel looked very nice at the reception. We were positively impressed. The room was average, not particularly fresh, but still fine. Unfortunately the bathroom was a big minus, the smallest I’ve ever seen, with a sink we could barely wash our hands in. But what really didn’t impress us was the sound insulation. We could hear anything, from steps from the room above us, to the noice from the elevator. We were staying in London one more night a few days later, but chose to book another hotel for our last night.
