A fairly new establishment with a crisp front desk area and up-to-sate general amenities, the Gate sits right in the heart of East End, minutes away from the Aldgate East tube station and many eateries. Business travellers will find it handy.  Cosy Japanese restaurant on the same block.The famed but overrated Brick Lane is literally a walk through. Spitalfields Market is a 10 minute walk in the same direction. No question a great location if you want to check out the East End.  Free coffee and tea a very nice touch.  There is no phone in the room for contacting the front desk, if you have a question or a request, either phone them on your own phone, or go to them on your way out.  Front desk staff usually set the tone for your stay.  Here most of them are warm and friendly, especially Genaviev and Halina.  Duty Manager Gabrella solved an issue with the shower during my first stay two days earlier most professionally and with care for my well being.  I was impressed.

Als Expediakunde wird man in diesem Hotel leider drittklassig behandelt. Auch nach 15:00 (offizielle Check in Zeit) war das Zimmer noch nicht fertig. Wir waren zu dritt, das Zimmer hatte aber nur eine Ausstattung für zwei Personen (Geschirr, Handtücher, Bettwäsche). Erst nach dem wir uns darüber beschwert haben, dass für das Sofa nicht genug Platz zum ausklappen war, kam Personal ins Zimmer, hat das Sofa gedreht und erst dann für die dritte Person bezogen, trotzdem wurde kein Geschirr gebracht. Wir hatten nur Geschirr für zwei Personen. Der Geschirrspüler war extrem verkalkt. Im Bad war ein Loch in der Wand, in welches einfach ein Toilettenpapier gestopft wurde. Die Toilette war sehr dreckig und der Duschschlauch ist nach ein paar Minuten einfach abgefallen. Den Fernseher im Schlafzimmer konnte man nur direkt am Fernseher ausschalten, da die Fernbedienung nicht mehr funktioniert hat. Alles in allem die Lage der Unterkunft ist klasse, der Rest eher nicht so. Wir würden hier nicht noch einmal her kommen.

Was okay but had to move rooms because the first had stains on floor and bed, second was okay but still not great for the amount we paid. Also had to pay £150 security deposit but was not told about it beforehand. Overall was okay

We had 6 people and had two rooms. One was an accessible family apartment, and one was a superior apartment. Both had plenty of space for 3 people each. My teenage sons slept on the pull-out couch and said it was comfortable. The superior apartment had a clothes washer/Dryer and it came in handy when our clothes got a but wet when a sudden rainstorm pooped up and caught us unaware. Both apartments also had a convection/microwave oven. My only problem with the oven is the language seemed to be set to Arabic? and I could not figure out how to change the language setting, I did manage to figure out how to use it still and it worked well for heating up the breakfast items we purchased. Both units had small fridges and glasses, plates, some cooking utensils etc. Everything we could possibly need including pots and pans as well for the cook top. The location was good and about a 4 minute walk to the Algate East underground station which is on several main arteries into the city so it was easy to get around to wherever we wanted to go with 20-30 min ride. We also loved being able to walk up to the Spitalfields market and enjoyed several restaurants on the famous Brick Lane (sometimes called the curry mile) which was all within a 10-15 minute walk. We also walked to the Tower bridge and Tower of London in about 20 minutes. Hotel staff was professional and the rooms were clean we also enjoyed the lounge area with its free coffee, hot chocolates and tea and juice selections.

Great stay and location. Some miscommunication
Great stay and relatively affordable. Would give 5 stars except for the internet kept dropping, which in their words caused my reservation to accidentally be cancelled after I emailed and left several phone message a that flights were delayed. But they did clean that up. Great proximity to train and buses and food; way cheaper than using rideshare! Compact but cozy penthouse with great views of city and staff were helpful after initial miscommunications.

We had the "familyroom" The kitchen was very basic, not enough tools to prepare a proper meal. The bedroom was perfect,quiet,good beds and pillows and an extra flat screen TV. The bathroom had very poorly lightning and no shelfs at all to put your things on, you have to put your stuff on the floor and due to lack of any shower wall the floor got completely soaked and so did our toiletry bags. I liked the 24 our coffee/tea service during our stay

Unlikely to come back
Booked the apartment, wasn't impressive at all. They have done what they could do with the space. A few things to note, the bottle of prosecco on arrival was not provided and when I called the reception, they sent a tiny bottle which leaves a bad tatse, you might as well leave it out of the offer. The bed was rather small for a king sized bed, the oven took forever to heat food and they do not have any room service. On the bright side, breakfast was decent. Not sure its worth the money.
