The staff was nice. The room was dingy. Thin sheets, towels and pillows. The room had an unfortunate odor. The safety latch on the door did not function. The pool was out of service.

It's not bad but I would think twice
The property is more concerned with getting you to sign a $50 charge than it is in keeping up the rooms. It's one thing to ask for a $50 deposit it's another one to charge your card for you to sign it and then refund it the next day. The room doesn't even have a chair. And the breakfast buffet is pretty basic. I requested a ground floor room due to handicap and of course that meant that they gave me a third floor room it's highly doubtful that I will ever stay here again I'm becoming really leery of hotels that want your credit card for quote incidentals unquote. Let's face it, this is becoming the big scam

My go to when passing through
Hotel is older, but rooms are clean and front desk is extremely helpful, friendly and available, if any issues should arise Breakfast is decent, but by no means gourmet. Have stayed here on numerous occasions when passing through on the way to San Antonio, and have never had issues. Location is very convenient, right off of the highway.

Check-in interrogation and Is that a roach?
I booked a room with a queen size bed. I also requested to have a first floor room as I'm on oxygen and have limited mobility. When we checked in, I was told that there are no queen size beds on the first floor and would have to have a room on the 3rd floor. Ok, so I had to take breaks from walking to the room. The clerk repeatedly reminded me that I booked a queen size bed, like 4 to 5 times. Maybe she thought I should have known there werent any queen beds on the first floor? I can only guess why she felt the need to remind me so many times, but it felt like it was because I was with my wife. She did seem annoyed with the whole process. After signing multiple papers and paying for the room, i was told that there was a suite on the first floor for $15 more. She just assumed i wouldnt want it and didn't give me the option. The room was comfortable. However, I noticed what looked like a roach on the ceiling. We knocked it off but couldnt find it after that to confirm what it was. To be fair, we didnt see any more after that. The hvac unit was dirty looking and had broken fins on it. It did function. There was also a red stain on the curtain. The shower was hot and the bed was confortable. We didn't partake in the complimentary breakfast. The woman was friendlier when checking out, than checking in. I guess because we had already paid. There are better and nicer hotels in Lubbock. I think we'll pass on this one next time.

Hotel has new carpet and a good mattress but every thing else was still in need of updating (chipped paint etc). Room was right by the outside door for the rear parking and slammed every time someone went in or out shaking the walls - very hard to sleep was told the ac noise should drown out the noise - there was no blanket on the bed so 64 was freezing in the room and it still didn't cover the noise. No coffee maker in room even though amenities included it on the website. Desk clerks were friendly and nice. Breakfast is only quick stuff besides waffle maker or gravy in the crockpot. Only fruit was bananas but they were not bruised so that was ok.

We booked the hotel through cheaptickets.com. Very disappointing! As we pulled into the property from the lubbock airport, there was people hanging out in the parking lot seemingly doing illegal stuff, there was no one to talk to at the front desk thus having to call through cell phone to let them know we wanted to check-in. As we entered the room...1st floor...was unbelievable, we turned the lights on and there was a bunch of roaches of all sizes running around. I called the front deskperson to come look at the condition of the room and asked him for a refund. In all fairness, he asked if he could move us to another room...but jeez, infestation doesn’t choose a room. Again i asked for a refund, the gentleman says we had to call cheaptickets.com, so we did....the agent contacted the hotel and denied the refund, after a few more phone calls, the hotel finally agreed to do a partial refund, charged us one night . One night that we DID NOT use ...because the place was infested with Roaches! Hope this review serves its purpose...clean your rooms and get it fumigated Howard Johnson!

It is a typical motel chain franchise. The staff was very very good. The only thing that caught my eye was the floor was in bad condition, like it had been flooded at some time. It needs replacing. And there was some cosmetic damage to the bathroom door frame, which I fixed myself.

This hotel was horrible. The rooms were disgusting. There were stains on the bed in the first room they gave us. We moved rooms and it wasn’t much better. I saw a roach the morning we were leaving. Service was good, housekeeping was awesome, not far from grocery store or restaurants, price wise awesome, definitely will book again!

Absolutely disgusting. Cockroaches everywhere. They were all sizes and in the sink, shower, and bed. I do not know how you could possibly allow people to stay here. It is deplorable.

The whole thing was a nightmare the desk clerk was rude. The room was nasty there was hair in the bathtub the soaps were half used and open and pubic hair on the toilet. Pillow smelled of cigarette just disgusting. Could not sleep cause hear all the traffic out side and the ppl the ppl in next room over. No breakfast like they said a bowl of cereal is not continental breakfast. Just all around bad! And there was snot on our door boogers gross!
