The bad experience began when we pulled in and I tought the place was abandoned. The exterior looked sad and worn down. We wen to the office at 5:30 pm and no one was there, apparently check in between 3:30 and 5 if you'd like to actually talk to someone. We did receive an email explaining the check in procedure but as we were traveling in the State Park were there is little to no service we did not receive anything until we drove away from the motel and into the town where we finally got service and were able to get into our room. Our room did show evidence of recent renevation. However, it was not as advertised. The photos of the rooms shown on the website are taken from an angle that makes them look spacious and workable. We barely had enough space to walk past the foot of the beds without knocking the TV off the wall. The bathroom was not large enough stand at the sink without both shoulders hitting the walls. There was only a single chair in the room and no place to put bags or suitcases to unpack. For some reason there was a full dresser in the room as if someone was staying for a month. In the shower dispensers there was no soap or shampoo, only conditioner. We were unable to use the TV because we did not have the correct code to use them. We paid almost $300 for two nights...we left at 5 in the morning after one restless night on a bed that squeaked everytime one of us moved.

This was the loveliest motel I have ever stayed in! The room was very well maintained, spotless and decorated with taste. It had a modern feel which has been a rarity in most of the motels I have stayed in. I had everything needed in the room: Wi-Fi, TV, microwave, a fridge and a coffee maker which made the stay very comfortable. There was also a pool outside however it was off season so it was closed. The staff was super nice and helpful. The location was great: just a short drive to the center of town as well as the Luray caverns and close to the entrance of the Shenandoah national park which was fantastic for hiking. This place is just a gem!

I found this place cozy. The furniture is in good condition and parking was super-easy. We particularly enjoyed the bonfire at night where we made s'mores. It was a wonderful experience overall. Communication with the hotel was very fast and reliable.
