Friendly people following unfriendly rules?
Staff was nice. Housekeeping staff were awesome. The room was fine. Most amenities were locked up though. Game room was locked. Exercise room was locked. Breakfast area was locked at 10am. Continental breakfast was okay. I think they were short on staff and locked things up to compensate. Understandable but still a bit off-putting.

Check in & check out were both easy and staff were very friendly. We checked in around 6:30pm and pool was closed, which wasn't a big deal to us as we weren't going to use it. Not sure if it was staff shortage or issue with pool - may be something to look into if you are planning on using it during your stay.

First: I was unable to use my Hotels.com card to pay for the stay despite completing the reservation and confirmation on line. Second: No notice of renovation or constructions. Blaring Alarm for 15 minutes was unnerving on the second day. Third: No rules for kids hitting the walls and running around after 10 PM.

Hot tub in pool area had mold growing in it. The whirlpool tub took 35 minutes to fill and then when you turned it on it had scum and scale come out the jets. The screens on the windows were not correct and you could not shut them all the way. The breakfast area had very little food in there and we ended up going to a restaurant for breakfast. will not use this place or you for any more motels.

We stayed extra night and bed was hard, ceilings were stained and the carpet was bare in spots, made room look dingy. Check in person was fast and courteous. Outside of hotel made it seem modern.

Less then impressed, had to track someone down at check in because he was hiding out back, then he recommended 3 resteraunts that happened to be closed, then going up to room smelled like terrible burning candles. It made us all queezy. Later on we went to see the bar, pool and game room. Bar was closed, the game room was closed down, the hot tub was broken, the babies pool was freezing cold, enough my toddler could not go in. Had to chase the front desk guy down again because there was no stocked towels. The room was dark and dingy. Do not recommend this hotel. We should have been warned at checkin or before when they closed down half the amenities they have. Part of the reason we booked was because of the hot tub, game room and bar.

Been staying at this hotel every year since it first opened. Always adequate for my family-needs. Just find the price of the rooms to be hyper-inflated for my birth town of Maquoketa, Iowa! $170.00 a night including tax for one person, in Maquoketa?? Having stayed in hotels literally in most major cities in the US, and in Europe over 25 years, this price for this chain hotel was just silly. Don’t even have a full-time person at the front desk! He was nice and helpful when one could find him, but he had so many tasks going on. My yearly family reunion is held at the fairgrounds. The hotel is well-located for sure. The pool is surely a draw for families with children! My bathroom was very nice, as I need the grab bars. Thanks for that!! Please expand breakfast a little. Biscuits and gravy is not healthy!! How about scrambled eggs? Protein is good! Thank you for oatmeal packets, bananas, and yogurt. Coffe was excellent. My comments reflect discussion of AmericInn at my reunion with several people who are now going to the Econolodge, which is nicely updated and has a fabulous breakfast for guests.

Property inside needed all walls in hallways, and in rooms and checking in painted.Beds and pillow’s need replaced. Chair in bedroom needed replaced was all stained. Fan didn’t work on bathroom. Need new shower curtain . Breakfast biscuits was a month old hard as a baseball. Gravy to salty & sausage cold. TV had bad viewing static view or way to old. Manager don’t know how to please guests just keeps saying”I’m sorry”. Lawn hasn’t been mowed in weeks.

The property & rooms need updated. My room was musty. My friend changed rooms because of the cigarette smell and staff informed him that the hotel was smoke free. The staff was helpful and accommodating and the location is convenient.

We stayed at this property 8 years ago and it was in much better shape. It seems the owner is trying to fix things, but it is very dated. The carpeting in the room was vacummed to death, the hallway on the 2nd floor had a soft spot, and it had a musty smell when we first got in the room. The pool was spotless.

Did not like that the hot tub was unusable. That would’ve been OK. Had it been empty but it was very green. There was a lot of things floating in it and it smelled horrific. However, everything else about our stay was good. The room was clean and we got new towels went Housekeep been came through. Staff was very great as far as their politeness, and willing to help.

Hot tub was green slime so thick it looked like flooring. Elevator was sketchy and was inspected last in 2017... so we had to use stairs to 3rd floor every time just to feel safe. Deadbolt did not line up so we could not lock our room. Final night there a guest was banging doors for hours and acting up. I understand this isn't hotels fault, but not being able to lock our door became scary when that was happening. The room itself appeared clean and staff was always nice.

Our stay was simply unappealing. We will never stay at this location ever again. No towels, TP nor kleenex in the room. In additionthe toilet had bowl left all over the rim of the stool when one lifted the seat. Called and informed the front desk straight away. 3hrs later towels were brought to the room and that is all they were willing to provide. Simply unacceptable.

My first room had old food in the fridge, I opened the door for a moment and then I couldn’t get the smell out of the room. Then, the door wouldn’t latch in my second room, the lock was the only thing keeping the door shut, the normal sticker did nothing.
