「The room was very clean, the people were nice, and the bed was great. This place is old, and the owners are working hard to get it turned around, I appreciated their efforts. It appears that they also use their place to help the less fortunate. It was kind of noisy…no sound proofing. The breakfast was uninteresting but adequate.」

「It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the room was very clean and exactly what we needed.」

「Free breakfast but suboptimal. Orange juice was diluted, coffee was not good. There was no cups in the room, and no lotion. Cable was good though」

「You get what you pay for.」

「The unit was more than I expected. The cabin was furnished with comfortable seating indoors, a full kitchen, TV, comfortable bed, clean bathroom with a hot shower, and more. I will definitely be booking this place again for another getaway.」

「Definitely will come back A+++ . Hot tub was perfect but definitely needs a umbrella for day time soaks. Shawnee is a beautiful place to relax with Nature.」

「Pros: quiet little cabin, tucked just inside from a street. Clean & cozy. Cons 1. Mattress: It was too soft & saggy in the middle. Another reviewer mentioned this too. I wasn't able to get a restful night's sleep. Either my knees or neck would be sore in the mornings 2. Not enough brightness / lights: The interior feels dark - with an okay ceiling light, where 1-2 if the bulbs would slowly go dim as tine went on. Kitchen light was brigther.」

「This is an amazing property and unique experience. It is “off the grid” in a sense, but had everything we needed and was clean. Friendly staff and very cool antique decor. Definitely recommend!」

「Great location for exploring Shawnee National Forest! Property was clean and quiet. They are in the process of updating the rooms on the property.」

「We love staying here after sightseeing around Shawnee!」

「This is an amazing place for a couple or small family to have a first or even small get away or vacation」

「We had such an awesome stay at the Shawnee Apple Shack. It was so cute, clean, and had everything that we needed! There was plenty to do in the Southern Illinois area for the weekend. We definitely recommend staying there and would love to come back sometime!」

「Clean and comfortable」

「It was convenient having a garage for our car and luckily our car is small, because it barely fit. Nonetheless, a great feature. The place was clean, quaint, and adequate for the two of us. It was decorated to feel very homey. I recommend this as an option to stay if you are in the Harrisburg, Shawnee National Forest area.」

「Very nice place! The towels smelled amazing! Cute decor!」

「It is a very peaceful environment. Walking the property offers opportunities for quiet reflection , as does simply sitting on the porch overlooking the river.」

「It was just what we needed to be comfortable in the extreme heat we had - plenty of room for our family of 4 and located just right for everything we wanted to do! Julia was great about communication when we had questions. Would definitely stay here again!」
