Gorgeous property, needs care and attention!

We brought our family of 11 to stay at Dream Lake Castle on Lake Anna, and while the property/location/views are stunning, this home needs work and attention. We read all of the previous reviews, but hoped things had been addressed prior to our arrival. Vacasa was easy/great to communicate with, but the local teams responsible for care of the property need to address some things. We consistently said if we were the owners, we'd be looking for a new management/cleaning company. Our biggest complaint is that the listing is offered as a "premium" stay, and we paid top dollar to stay here, but the amenities, cleanliness, and attention to detail were lacking. For future bookers: we didn't use the hot tub - there was a line of pink mold around it. There were urine stains on the wall in the main floor bathroom. The dock is beautiful but covered in spider webs and just generally "dirty", the sink in the boat house doesn't work, and the refrigerator doesn't keep things cold. Bring your own cleaning supplies - no vacuum, broom for daily clean-ups. You get one towel/hand towel per guest. The kitchen didn't have any hand towels/rags so we had to buy some. The Blackstone grill is a nice amenity, but it wasn't cleaned prior to our arrival. Pros: the beds/pillows are comfortable, and the view is stunning! The location is great - close to Dollar General and Food Lion. We also worked with a great boating company (Mobile Watercraft Rentals LLC) to rent a boat and jetski!

Dream Lake Castle Spring 2025

We enjoyed our stay. Beautiful home. Great location, amazing views, ample parking. Spent most of our time on the dock. Wish we had been able to enjoy more of the available amenities! Reached out to property manager before our stay with some concerns and they responded quickly (and addressed all our questions). The owners/property management are aware of well and septic challenges, so would not be fair to ding them for those (also we all live on well/septic, so already understood). Could use a little more cleaning around baseboards and some of the electric blinds did not work, but overall a great experience. We look forward to returning next year.

Beautiful house, could use some TLC

This house was beautiful. Great location with tons of space for everyone. Overall the house was clean except it could use a good dusting. The fire pit did not work. The property manager offered for someone to come out the next day, which we declined, because it rained the rest of the weekend so we never got to use it. Water pressure is VERY low and it takes forever for the water to get hot. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay. Amber from property management was great and was very quick to respond to any questions we had. We would stay in this house again in the future.

Disappointing state of cleanliness and disrepair

Unfortunately the house was in the process of having repairs done and was filthy inside. There was a large segment of siding missing on the back of the house as well as a hole in the ceiling of an upstairs bedroom (a garbage bag covered the hole). The house reeked of mold and mildew, every toilet in the house was terribly stained with rust/minerals, the water pressure was so low we couldn't shower and there was no hot water. The kitchen smelled of grease and all the pots/pans had grease and dried food on them. All in all, what appeared to be a very luxurious property turned out to be the worst VRBO stay I've ever experienced!
